Prime example, as stated in the passage, would be that the period of time during World War II. During this time frame, we, as a nation as a whole, had taken an exponential leap forward in both our industial industries as well as our technological industries. These advances led to our lead in this, theoretically speaking, nation race we are in. One other reason is that we, unlike other nations such as Germany and Japan, use our vapital to our advantage. So in conclusion, it is simply expressing how and why we, as a nation, have taken a leap forward and have continued to hold our position as number one in the race against nations.

Some of them want to do the same as Japan. Lacking a consensus, the United States continued to do nothing about a centrally directed economic strategy. Japan & German have improved progressly by growing more independent & depending more on the market.
