1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas Truce was to bring two opposing sides together to celebrate the joys and miracles of Christmas. It was only one of many days during the war, yet had a larger, more powerful meaning to the soldiers, and showed a glimpse of the goodness of humanity.

2. I believe that many soldiers were at first skeptical of what initially occurred, but many embraced the holiday. The soldiers wanted one day of joyous celebration and didn't react to their superiors.
3. I believe that the most important aspect was that the soldiers didn't start fighting when they were told to. There was trust between the opposing sides out of just the right to do, and by having that trust, the soldiers joined together in harmony and peace for the day.
4.
(British)
We heard a loud call
And on that joyous Christmas
There was peace for all
~
(German)
There was glad singing
We joined together
In glad harmony

1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas truce was to enjoy christmas and get a break from the horrible life that they were living. They got to have fun for a change.
2. The soldiers wanted to keep having fun and not having worries that someone was going to sneak up on them and shoot them and I don't think they were happy when they heard they had to go back to fighting.
3. I think the most important aspect between the soldiers and officers is that they listen to each other and obey each other so that they don't get into fights and mess up the whole system.
4.

1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas Truce was to bring the two sides that had been fighting for a while together for a special reason. Despite the war, it was a time of peace and celebration in the world. I think the meaning of the coming together as one shows that they are all humans who have some similar traits in life. Even though they are fighting against each other for the sake of their own countries, they are all just people in the end who wanted to celebrate together and take a break from the destroying time.
2. I think they probably ignored their superiors because this was of their only times that they had enjoyed their time away from their families and struggling in war.
3. I think there was a big theme of respect between the soldier ands officers. The officers were in charge of commanding the soldiers, but had to also put into perspective that the soldiers were struggling to continue fighting and suffering every day.

4.
Away from the fight
the british had called truce
Worried at the start

the fight had been long
we wanted some happiness
time to celebrate

1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas truce was that both sides have similarities. They both can set aside their differences and celebrate Christmas.
2. The soldiers were upset because they wanted one day of having fun being people and when it ended they were upset.
3. I think the most important aspect of the relationship between the soldiers and the officers is the trust the soldiers had in the officers that the truce wasn't a trick. Another important aspect was that when the officers told them it was over and to keep fighting it was the soldiers' duty to obey their orders.
4.

1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas Truce was that anyone can get along, and you do not always have to fight people. And there can always be some peace. It was also to bring two sides together and show that anything is achievable including peace.
2. I don't think they were happy to abandon the truce because I think this truce made them feel united and peaceful for the first time in a while.
3. I don't think there was a relationship. The officers would oder the soldiers to do something and they had to comply. Many of the orders were most likely very hard to follow or do and would have been difficult to follow through with the orders.
4.

1. I think the overall meaning of the truce was to allow each side to enjoy the holiday and be able to have at least one day of a break from the terrible condition they were in. Christmas is the season of giving, and I think this was the best thing that they could've done during this time (other than ending the war).
2. The truce made them feel comfortable, and when they were ordered to abandon it, they no longer felt that comfort and unity.
3. I feel like the most important aspect between the two was respect. With ordering to abandon the truce, the officers showed that they did not care or have respect for the soldiers risking their lives.
4. Germans:
British want the truce
We were worried, but want one
Now we are glad too
British:
Fights were breaking out

I t shows how they are real humans that are being put into this situation.
2. i think they wouldn't be happy because its shows that the superiors are taking their lives for granted and don't care about how many soldiers are killed
3. I think the most important aspect between leader and solider in respect on both sides. I think demanding that the truce stops shows that the leaders don't respect the troops.
4 german: Wondering about
my family and my friends
wishing i could leave

British: this is horrible
secret santa with the rats

1. I think the overall meaning of the christmas truce is that while the two sides may have been enemies, they're all just people. People that don't want to be fighting every single day, and don't want to be worried that they could be shot dead at any second. I think the executed thee Christmas Truce in hopes of lifting everyone's spirits if only for a couple of days.
2. I think the soldiers would have been extremely upset because they have actually had a good time the past few days which is more than you can say about the war that they have been fighting in for the past few months.
3. I think the most important aspect of the relationship between the soldiers and the officers is that the officers listen and obey the soldiers. I think if this didn't happen, things would began to go donwhill. If they didn't listen to the officers, they would be putting everyone's life in danger more than they already are. THe christmas truce affected this relationship because the soldiers really needed a break from the war, and they deserved one. It would get their minds off of the war if only for a few days. While I do think the soldiers needed to listen to the officers, I think they were right in allowing the christmas truce.
4.
a small break from hell
felt happy for the first time

1. I think the overall meaning of the Christmas truce was that for a moment the two sides could share in this moment of Christmas, something that unifies then. The meaning is that they share something, and that there is something that both sides hold sacred.
2. I feel like the soldiers might have been heartbroken, they were most likely upset, but they were at war it was not going to last forever.
3. I think the most important part of a relationship between Officer and Soldier is respect, it the It is likely that after the Christmas truce their relationships were strained. The Officers did not have much of a choice, they had to re-start the fighting at some point.
4.

1. I think think the overall meaning of the Christmas truce was that the soldiers were tired of the conditions they were living in, and both sides could connect over the fact that they were suffering so much. I think they had sympathy for each other and wanted a day where they could come together and have one day to enjoy together.
2. The soldiers seemed to be over the trench warfare because people just kept dying, so I think the soldiers were just ignored their officers
3. I think the soldiers did not like the officers very much because they were telling the soldiers to go out and basically sacrifice themselves when the officers never really had to do anything that put their life on the line.
4.German: A break from the war
no more anxiety now
we come together
today I'm finally calm
British: Generals say no
we do not fight anyway
we are people too
we deserve a break from war

I think the overall meaning of the Christmas Truce is that no matter what, we are all pretty equal and even if we are on different sides, we can still share the same beliefs.
2. The soldiers reacted in a way where they probably didn't want to listen because it was a peaceful time away from trying to kill each other
3. The relationship between a soldier and his officer might be friendly and intimidating. It might be friendly because you are looking up to your officer for guidance but intimidating because you want to do everything right.
4. I feel the soldiers got annoyed with their superiors because they weren't in he same situation as the the soldiers.
