One thing that I used to do at my hold campus but I really should bring back is starting each day with a community type session. I would spend 5 minutes taking input from the class and talking about anything good that happened since the last time we met as a class. It takes practice to not be silly and sometimes really dig for something good, no matter how small. But it was a fun way to get everyone talking and sharing experiences with each other. It's a feel good moment where everyone can be proud of something they did.

Making sure to have a class meeting with students and telling. them how special they all are. The students like to come to the floor when I call them together. I make sure to be seated on their level so that we can be at eye level and we talk about what is happening for the week and during the meeting I make a point to let each of the students know how much they are cared about by all their teachers and administrators.
I tell students that it is our goal to move forward and that their homeroom is awesome!

I believe posting pictures in the classroom, on Twitter or Dojo is a great way to celebrate students and their successes. It lets the students know how proud I am of their hard work in my classroom. This can also been done with coworkers, taking pictures, celebrating before or after school, and notes with small gifts. I definitely celebrate passing test scores with ribbons and prizes.

I think posting their accomplishments shows them that their work is important. Their parents like to see the good work they are doing. As an adult it's nice to have others see your hard work. I like to give little notes as the students are working so they have immediate praise. Now with technology there are so many ways to show and share work with others.

To piggyback on what has been mentioned here - I like the ideas of classroom meetings. The idea of giving students more control and say about their environment (celebrations, what's working, what's not) allows them to hold each other accountable. I also believe that we should celebrate those who we work with more often. I try to thank counselors, admin and paras when I can.

I have really been trying to be positive this year. I give students good notes home. I also write notes in their Friday folders about how much I value them and their hard work. I need to celebrate my co-workers more often to let them know how much I appreciate them. A kind note goes a long way!

I really need to take more time to notice the small things. My students are accomplishing so much throughout the day. Many times it's not academically and so it gets over looked. Some days I sit at home and reflect on how the day went and I realize many of them have made social breakthroughs. Therefore, finding unique ways to acknowledge their accomplishments and giving them immediate feedback is one of my goals this upcoming week.

I am learning to relax and just let things be. Having relationships with my students, celebrating birthdays, and any important events in their lives. I need to learn to be present in the moment and celebrate with my coworkers more.
