To make a cellphone, both natural and synthetic materials are needed. Natural materials like gold, copper, lithium, and silicon are mined from the Earth and used for things like wiring, batteries, and chips. Plastic, a synthetic material made from oil, is used for the phone’s casing and some parts inside. Glass, made from sand, is used for the screen. These materials are combined in factories to build a cellphone that works well and lasts long.

Cellphones have a big impact on users, both good and bad. On the positive side, cellphones make it easier to communicate with our friends and family, no matter how far you are. They also help people find information quickly which is a essential in learning. Cellphones make everything easier like finding directions, shopping, and banking. However there is a negative side too, cellphones can be distracting, making it hard for us to focus on homework or work. Using cellphones too much can also lead to the feeling of loneliness. In the USA, one study specifically examined the relationship between how much students use their phones in class (social media, texting, searching relevant information online, and playing games) and their grades.

Results of this study show that there was a significant negative association between mobile phone use during class time and the students’ grade point average, suggesting that when students spend a lot of time on their phone in class, their learning and academic achievement may suffer.

Many communities are negatively affected by cellphone use. In low-income areas, people often struggle because they can’t afford good phones or reliable internet, making it hard to find jobs or succeed in school. In rural areas, while some people might get better access to information, others are left out due to poor service, making it hard to reach important services like healthcare. Plus, young people frequently face issues like cyberbullying and social anxiety from spending too much time on their phones, which can hurt their mental health and school performance. These challenges highlight the need for more support for these communities.

Some places are really affected by cellphones. In mining areas like in the Democratic Republic of Congo people have to work in bad and dangerous places to get the stuff needed for phones. Sometimes kids have to work too, which is not safe. Poor places are also hurt because some people spend too much money on phones and forget about things like food or school. This makes their lives even worse. In online communities, people can get bullied or hurt because of what others say or do on cellphones. This can make people feel Insecure or scared.

Cellphones are composed of both natural and synthetic materials. To name a few, natural materials include gold, copper, silver, tin, lithium, aluminum, cobalt, and silicon. These items serve as critical components for batteries, wires, and circuits. Construction materials like plastic, glass, acrylic, and other chemicals are created in factories. The phone's case is made of plastic, while the screen is made of glass. These chemical and other materials are found within the battery, aiding it in power storage. All of these cell phone materials help it function. If they did not exist, cellphones would be non-existent.

Some communities get hurt by phones, like people who live near mining sites. When companies dig up minerals for phones, it ruins nature and makes the water dirty. Also, places where old phones get dumped suffer, because harmful stuff leaks into the ground and can make people sick. Plus, workers who build phones in factories sometimes work in unsafe places.

These items are critical for batteries, wires, and circuits. To make the cellphones items used are plastic, glass, acrylic, and other chemicals are created in factories. The phone's case is made of plastic, while the screen is made of glass. These chemical materials are found within the battery, aiding it in power storage. All of these cell phone materials help it function. If they did not exist, cellphones would not exist.

Social media is where most of the negative impacts of phones come from. Students may be distracted from their studies. Cyberbullying happens on social media, and it is hard to catch because people can choose to be anonymous online. Rumors, both slander about classmates and fake political news, spread faster on social media than anywhere else. Studies have showed social media use to be linked with loneliness, despite allowing for easier communication.

Forced labor workers are negatively affected as well.

Certain communities, particularly in mining regions of countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, are severely impacted by cellphone use due to the demand for minerals like cobalt, which is essential for smartphone batteries. There communities face hazardous working conditions, including child labor and exposure to toxic chemicals, while the environmental damage from mining operations leads to deforestation, water contamination, and soil degradation. Furthermore, the lack of adequate waste management in these areas exacerbates the negative effects of e-waste, causing long-term health and environmental consequences. These issues are compounded by the global demand for cheaper electronics, leaving vulnerable populations with limited options for better living conditions or sustainable development.
