The Beatles were the first pop group to become well known all over the world and their fame goes much beyond their actual music. They were a symbol of the young genertion, who were rebelling aganist the old traditional ideals. the first three in the musical group were George harrison(lead guitar), John Lennon (rhythm guitar) and Paul McCarteney(bass guitar). They began playing together in their home in their home town Liverpool in 1960 and used to play in the Cavern club, an old cellar. the fourth Beatle, Ringo Star, joined the group later and played drums. it was their stay in West Germany which made the famous, so that when they came back to England, people had already heard about them.

At number 10 of Mathew street we can find the famous Cavern Club, where the Beatles played before they became famous. There are concerts, festivals and and tours here. But it isn't just The Beatles today there are festivals and tours by national and international artists too. The next stop is quite a long way, so don't walk- get a bus or taxi. Go to Anfield Stadium, the home of Liverpool Football Club. There is a museum and Visitor's centre. Visit the dressing rooms, see the trophies and tour the Stadium. It has an amazing atmosphere-especially if you support Liverpool!
