My father was the one who got me involved in both art and music. From an early age I started taking drawing classes and piano lessons, because of these lessons my love of art has bloomed and I have developed a talent in both painting and playing various types of instruments like the violin, piano, and ukulele. This musical background has one of the biggest impacts on my life, music is what I always depend on and is a huge part of who I am.]]> 2017-05-28 21:23:37 UTC https://padlet.com/ohofheins/3x6iziiekvje/wish/174161480 ohofheins https://padlet.com/ohofheins/3x6iziiekvje/wish/174161721 Living in Utah you are exposed to the sweeping culture of the Mormon religion, but being brought up as a Mormon from birth you don't tend to notice how different the people and the culture are from the rest of the world. This was me, because I was raised Mormon I assumed everyone was too until about the age of seven or eight. Then as I got older and started to see the world through my own eyes and not my parents I realized Utah is very sheltered and Is not at all like any other state in the United States. I am not saying Utah is a bad place but as a young child you don't realise how strong the culture is and how much it influences you as a person,  even if you are not Mormon it is everywhere in Utah. Utah Mormon culture is in our food, our clothes, and our politics. This culture of mine has effected me deeply, it effects how I view the world, It effects how I vote, and how I communicate with people.

We are from many different counties in europe but the main countries are Germany, Ireland, and Scotland. We have very few family members left in these countries and because of that we try andcelebrate these different cultures as often as possible. We have more family in Scotland and because of that once a year we have a giant family get together and prepare authentic Scottish dishes and our family from Scotland flies in. These different cultures have effected me in my life but less so than some may think. Then we moved, my father got a new job and it brought us the Dallas, Texas. It was there I had a rude awakening and realized how sheltered Utah really is. Moving to Texas gave me a completely different view of the world, which I am so thankful for. The majority of my extended family is made up of females, and being raised as a Mormon I was constantly surrounded by my female church leaders, because of this I grew up being heavily influenced by women, and in my opinion it was a good things. Growing up I was surrounded by all these amazing women, some were mothers and church leaders, others were doctors and scientist, but they all had one thing in common and that was supporting and encouraging me, and telling me that no matter how hard life gets I can achieve anything. These women mean a lot to me, even still today. They have changed me views on the world, they helped me to see things like the minority of females involved in medical studies, and the lack of females in science fields, and the pay gap between males and females. These women have helped shape many of my world views.
