The thing that is going well for me as a literary essayists is I am getting the hang of what a literary essay is and it's going well. I'm getting down deep into the character's point of view and different sides of the story. Something else is I'm am using the literary essay thought prompts that Mrs. Reuter has given us to use.

Something I could do better is I need better examples from the text and more meatier paragraphs. Something that I could also do is read a bit more of the story instead of jumping right into writing.

Something that is going well for me in literary essays are I am very good at finding what the character really wants and why she wants it by supporting it with thoughts from the text. I am going to be continue on why the character thinks of herself/himself so highly or poorly. For example, when Hazel said, " I am the swiftest thing in the neighbor hood that is showing us that she thinks of herself highly without caring what other people think of her. I am also going to be working on the boxes and bullets structure to work on what my essay is going to be about.

What is going well for me as a literary essayist is that I have been using 1 to 2 prompts per paragraph. I have also been coming up with lots of great ideas. And best of all the claims are coming to me easy. I can work on having a more clear claim because I usually don't have a main claim and I just throw things down. I can also use more examples from the story to support my claim. I am also going to think deeper to write down better thoughts. So I am going to work on supporting my claim, making a clear claims and thinking deeper!

Something that is going well for me as a literary essayist is that I am using the thought prompts, I am using examples form the story, and I am using boxes and bullets structure. For example in the boot camp, for the 3 Little Pigs essay, I did really well. I used the boxes boxes and bullets structure, I used some of the thought prompts, and I gave an example from the story! I was pretty surprised! And for session 2 I used a bunch of thought prompts. I also used much more examples of the story! But, something that I can work on is looking deeper into the story, because I only look at the straight out facts. I need to think deeper more!

I have many things I've been doing well on during our literary essays. For instance, I use thought prompts while writing my essays. One time I did this was the time we wrote about how and why the author said they have to come by me and I'd rather knock you down: "Maybe the author included this because..." In addition, I provide evidence from the story into my literary essays. One time when we talked about what Hazel really wants in the story: "For instance, in paragraph three she talks about..." However, I think I can work on adding more descriptive examples and even adding more evidence in my essays. Once in a while I tend to only add two examples, instead of three. These are what I need to work on and what I'm doing well on.

What's going well for me as a essayist is most of everything, I feel that I am doing really well using examples from the story. Such as when we get a sentence to write about I try to find a way to put it in my claim.

There are a couple of things that I am doing well, and some things I need to improve on. One thing I am doing well is taking the line in the story that the teacher gave me that she wants me to write what I think about it, like the I rather just knock you down line in the story "Raymond's Run" and I am good at taking the sentence and then get more examples to back up my claim. Something though I have to work on is, when I get my points to back up my statement I need to make sure that I either get more examples or more important examples to back up my claim and idea better.

Something I want to work on in literary essays are more detail in my supporting evidence like using exact words from the story. I will achieve this goal by actually having my story out and looking at it and not just having it out and not looking at it.

I can continue to work on saying actual lines from the story and not just lines that I make up. I will prevent this by looking at my story and in my essey I could say where I found my evidence so people can see what I was trying to say.

What is going well for me as a literary essayist is that I am working hard on making good changes so that my writing makes sense, without going on and on and then it gets overboard and it is then boring. Something that I need to work on is I need to make sure that I use bigger words or add more detail. I can look back to the prompts more when I get stuck. I should double check paragraphs to make sure they have correct spelling. Questions I have - are you allowed to have more than three body paragraphs in your literary essay? Can you you make your claim longer than three main details?
