It says in the brief we are encouraged to reference academic texts, case studies etc. Do we need to use Harvard referencing and include a reference list for the proposal?

Yes, Harvard referencing should be used, and a reference list should be included at the end of the Proposal. All sources should be cited in-text and in the reference list in line with the Cite Them Right Harvard referencing guidelines to ensure consistency and academic accuracy.

A SWOT analysis is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate an organisation, project, or idea by identifying its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. We will cover this in our Week 2 and Week 3 sessions, but you can start exploring the SWOT threads on this Padlet and add your initial observations under the relevant headings.

Your SWOT analysis of NQ will directly inform your Proposal, helping to explain why certain audience, platform, branding, analytics, or commercial strategies are appropriate. Our learning objectives require you to show critical awareness of the current media landscape and make informed predictions about how NQ can adapt and grow. You will also need to provide evidence-based justification for your strategic decisions, drawing on industry research, comparable publications and journalism best practice.

The internal features of the site are constantly changing after a switch in developers last year, from a third party to the university. Under MMU, errors on the website (such as broken embeds causing a splattering of random numbers in articles, downed pages, etc) are slower to fix, meaning a poorer user experience for longer when issues do arise. Needs to be more collaboration between NQ and university.
