By the end of my schooling, I hope to be a psychiatrist. I have always thought that learning about the brain and how people think is interesting, so coming into my first semester of college I knew I wanted to do something in the psychology field I just wasn't sure what. I took a psychology class my first semester and I found that I was most interested in learning about mental illnesses, so that's when I thought about becoming a psychiatrist.

When psychiatrists take notes, they usually take two separate parts of notes. One part being about the patients, the date, how long their session was, and their diagnosis. The other part is the patient's ongoing treatments.

Psychiatrists can keep their patients records on paper locked away, or they can keep them electronically with a password. No matter how they keep their patients notes and records, they have to keep them confidential and locked away so only they and who they grant access for (including other healthcare providers) can access them. If they chose to keep their notes electronically protected by a password, they also have to make sure that they have a protected internet. In some therapies, clients can access their therapists notes, but as a psychiatry patient you can not.
