Assessment is the process of measuring what the learners have learned on a particular topic. It is one way of gathering data or information about the learner’s understanding of learning. One of the importance of assessment is to help teachers understand the learning difficulties of students and determine ways to overcome these difficulties. Another is that it helps students improve their path towards learning. Assessment provides feedback to students on how far they have achieved, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. With that, they will know what they need to focus on. It also makes learners accountable for their learning, encouraging them to participate actively in the learning process and take responsibility for their own learning. Based on my personal experience when I was in high school, my classmates and I sometimes struggled with solving mathematical concepts. Through continuous assessment, our teacher identified our area of difficulty. With that, she provided us with assistance and additional resources for us to better understand our topic. That experience shows how important assessment is in the academic progress of a student. Overall, assessment serves as an important tool in guiding and motivating learners in their learning experiences, enhancing the teaching and learning process.
