During the Japanese Occupation, food were scarce as the food that was in Singapore was taken away from the Japanese and sent back to Japan. Hence, there was not enough food for theses locals living in Singapore. People were given ration cards so as when they are getting there food, they would have to produce the card so as to be able to get FOOD.

We think that one of the most severe problems in Singapore is housing. The houses in Singapore were all destroyed by the bombs let off by Japan. Hence people would have to live in destroyed houses needing to bare with the hot sun and cold weather sometimes.

Many people were killed during the Japanese Occupation and many were severely injured. They lost their lives over simple things like not greeting or bowing to the Japanese soldiers upon meeting them on the streets.

For example, The Sook Ching exercise injured and killed many Chinese men. A lot of families were left without a provider for the family. They lost their husbands and fathers. πŸ‘ͺ😿 Another example, is the soldiers raped woman and made them comfort woman, abusing their authority and harming women and families.
