Attendance is imperative to building classroom community and it is required. Some students are over extended and not able to attend class because of childcare or work issues. A few do not have transportation.

1. Students need to be ready for Level 3 in a 5-Level ELA Reading Curriculum by the end of the semester, so it is important to design assessments that measure the achievement of each SLO intentionally and precisely.

Students on campus are often commuters.  Many have families.  Sometimes it is difficult for students to make every class.

Characteristics of the Teacher - this is a course that I took at a 4-year university setting. It was heavily geared towards population dynamics. I also have a degree in genetics. It is only about 7 weeks long. The course meets in a large lab, with a lot of equipment.

Students are in their final semester before graduation, and they have a certain level of technical knowledge. 

This course is different than other courses in the program, in that the skills they are learning are less technical (black and white), and require creativity.

I assume a certain level of student  competence that isn't always true. I enjoy the troubleshooting process, and tend to assume that others will too.
