Invite parents to see assessments or readings but they do not have to be done with a teacher.  The teacher can take home and check works and then post and approve for parents.

Apple classroom is free to use even with a couple of different iPads

After iPads are set up in groups or classroom you can mirror the device to the iPads and then see what they are working on.  The top bar is white but if turn blue the teacher is watching.  

You can lock iPads into an app, lock before opening app

Can send iPads to websites such as ABC ya

All iPads play better on version 11 all same together

If the iPad is powered down you can log out and off, not allow or get out for the edu version.  Older kids!
