Throughout the text, Gladwell enjoyed asking questions to make his audience think, " How long did it take you to determine how good your teacher your professor was? A class? A semester?" (page 12). He also used repetition to further support his objective, " How long did you hold it in your hands? Two seconds?" (page 13). When Gladwell constantly brought questions to his audience, later on in the text his readers would automatically find themselves asking the same question.
Gladwell made sure to emphasize the purpose of his book; it was the fist chapter. He listed the multiples goals of his book in paragraphs, "The third and most important task of this book is to convince you that our snap judgements and fist impressions can be educated and controlled" (page 15). When he stated his goals to the audience, he gave purpose to the stories he told throughout the text.
When Gladwell found words he wanted to emphasize he would repeat them in the next sentence, " ...it was not just a battle between two armies. It was a battle between two perfectly opposed military philosophies" (page 108). Through this use, Gladwell made it easier for his audience to understand his purpose.
