Awards will be considered on an ongoing basis. Each institution will be restricted to at most two applications with a total limit of £600 in a single school year, although note that one application can cover multiple activities and it is expected that many applications will be for smaller amounts.

The awards programme is open to all schools and colleges in the UK.

The most important thing: think innovative! 

• Each year up to 50 schools are awarded a £1,000 Special Merit Award (SMA) for STEM teaching in school. 
• Special Merit Award winners will automatically be entered into the finalist short-list and a chance to win the coveted The Rolls-Royce Schools Prize for Science & Technology, formerly known as the Rolls-Royce Science Prize. 
• If you are selected as a finalist, you will be provided with a further £5,000 to implement your action plan in the second year of this two-year rolling awards programme. You will also receive additional support from Rolls-Royce, who will work with you for the full academic year to help you implement your action plan.
