At Maungatautari my favorite thing was lochie's machine gun story with king von w story .

i learnt how to see if a Tuatara is a boy or a girl . and

that we saw birds eating food and water.

Also we learnt that Rimu trees grow up to 800-900 years

At Maungatautari I learnt that Tuatara have soft skin and that many birds would be extinct without Maungatautari

Something I enjoyed was seeing heaps of Tuatara and going up the tower seeing the views

Thank you for having us, I have learnt a lot of things about your fence and the native birds. I found it funny how the kakapos escape.

I enjoyed looking at the native animals and learning about them and other stuff.

At Maungatautari I learnt that when a mother Tuatara give birth the gender of the baby depends on the weather of the day. I also learnt that the little red thing on Harakeke you can lick it and a rainy or dewy morning and it tastes sweet. I also learnt that Kakapo are excellent climbers and that they cant slip due to how heavy they are. I enjoyed looking at the different birds and trees and learning that one of the creeper vines has actually grown into a tree and is over 800 years old.

at Maungatautari I learnt that the tuatara has no relatives . the Kakapo is the worlds heaviest parrot it cant fly but are good climbers they are 3.5kgs. and I also enjoyed the shaking tower because it was funny when people were scared to go up.

At Maungatautari I learnt that the fence is 30cm underground which prevents pests from digging through.

I enjoyed Lochie's story about King von , and watching birds eat their food.

At moungatautari I liked how you had to go through the gates so no pest could come through and kill the birds

At Maungatautari I learnt that baby tuatara has a third eye to see the shadow of predators.

I learnt that kakapo climbed a tree then hopped over the gate and escaped. If they did it one more time they did it again they got sent back to the island sanctuary . 7/10 have been sent back.

What I enjoyed at Maungatautari was getting to go to the Wetlands because I liked looking at the Tuatara skin and its egg.

The other thing I enjoyed about the Wetlands was getting to see the Tuatara up close and because it was a challenge trying to find them since they can blend in with the forest ground.

I learnt that you can see how old a tree is by counting the rings.

I also enjoyed singing and eating at lunch.

I learnt the trees are way taller than i actually thought

I liked telling stories about King Von and Jonathan when they had a war

I had a great time learning about maungatautari and the things that live on the Maunga ,our tour lady showed us that harakeke tree and that we can peel it open after a cold and wet morning the drink the juice out of it , it was very sweet and sugary.

I really enjoyed going up the big tower because I could see all the trees and heaps of birds and the other groups around us .

The wet lands were my favourite because of the Tuatara , I learnt the you can spot a male to a female because the female tuatara have smaller spikes on their back .

At Maungatautiri I learnt How to tell the difference between a male and a female Tuatara I also enjoyed the fact that I saw a lot of birds I didn't think I would be able to see like the Kaka and insects like the Giant Weta.

At Maungatauri I learnt that when the Tuatara have eggs. when the eggs hatch the baby Tuatara are on their own of their hole life and some Tuatara at their type of species.

I learnt that there only 3 more kakapo on Maungatautari.And the takehe had a baby and it was hiding.

And i leanrt how to tell a boy n a girl Tuatara.And you can count the rings to tell how old a tree is.

My guide was Sue so we learnt a lot of things, but the one thing that stood out to me was that after a rainy or dewy morning, you can peel the little plant that is attached to the Harakeke and drink the nectar! Which is sweet and kinda tasted like warm apple juice, but they have to be red, don't drink the yellow one because it tastes like grass.

I enjoyed seeing all the native and endemic birds. The chirps/tweets are way more fascinating in real life than on a chromebook.

At Maungatautari I learnt that Tuatara are nocturnal and that they have a third eye I also learnt that when Tuatara eggs hatch the babies are on their own.I enjoyed going up the 16m tall tower the view was an experience it felt like you were a bird.I also really enjoyed Lochies INCREDIBLE! story about King Von and Jonathan I really hope I go back in the future.

At Maungatautari I learnt that Tuatara have a big enough jores to eat a fantail and that if Tuatara lay eggs and it's above a certain temperature it has more chance of being a boy but if it's below that temperature it could be a girl. I also learnt that you don't feed all birds you only feed the ones that may have came from an island and don't know what they eat. I enjoyed seeing the cheeky Kaka flying around us and going up the tower to see what it was like up there.

I had a Great time and would like to go back!

At Maungatautari, I learnt that the male Tuataras have bigger spikes than the female one. I also learnt that the Kakas have a bigger beak and the Takahes cant really eat the grass in their sanctuary bit well. I enjoyed walking through the Tuatara bit and looking at the trees.

about midway through the canapy we saw a peace of rimu wood. it was bigger than my head about 8 times my head. could not think how big it grows to holy moly. then when i got into the bus i fell asleep fast as.

What i learnt at Maungatautari was how to tell a boy Tuatara from a girl Tuatara by there spikes i enjoyed looking at the brids and the trees.

And i liked singing with all the boys at lunch and seeing cool and interesting birds ive ever seen.

At Maungatautari we all saw eight kaka land on the trees and some were on the bird feeder to have a rest from flying all day.

The reason why there are bird feeders all around Maungatautari is because the rangers don't have to feed the birds by hand.

I loved seeing the tuatara up front when I was little I thought the tuatara was Godzilla.

My favorite thing about Maungatautari was being with all my friends and my dad.

At Maungatautari I have learnt that 10 Kakapos got sent to your sanctuary mountain but sadly 7 Kakapos got sent back because of how they climb the tree and hop over the fence and escaped the sanctuary 2 times then got sent back.

I also enjoyed singing with the boys at lunch and listening to the birds songs and seeing the birds like kaka,tui,white heads and more.

I enjoyed going up to the tower to see the birds but when the other group went up the tower my group saw 8 kakas on the same tree and branch and that was the best and amazing thing i seen all day.

I loved seeing the birds that I wanted to. I also learnt that the tuataras shed their skin like snakes and that they also have a third eye on the top of the head.

At Maungatautari I learnt that you could take the red thing of a Harakeke bush and start eating it, It tastes quite sweet. I also learnt that Kakapo are too heavy to fly themselves. I enjoyed seeing the tuatara, and learning the differences that female and male tuataras have.
