If I could give advice to my 16 year old self it would be:  wear sunscreen (you'll end up at the dermatologist a lot), don't care so much what other people think and LOVE YOURSELF because you're awesome.  We spend time learning about the teen brain in Psychology, and I haven't forgotten how tough those years were for me.  ]]> 2017-08-17 01:56:01 UTC https://padlet.com/myhistoryteach/3we95x8ein2a/wish/181361691 myhistoryteach https://padlet.com/myhistoryteach/3we95x8ein2a/wish/181362131 When I was 13 my hair started thinning, and I struggled with this for about 17 years before finding a solution that works for me.  I wear a wig and I love it.  It's the hair that I believe was always meant for me.  I have a video on youtube where I share my experience with other women and it has been viewed over 1,000 times.  I realize that doesn't make me a star but it makes me happy to think that I may be helping so many people by sharing my story.  Wearing hair isn't something I'm ashamed of, which is why I'm sharing it with you.  Lots of celebrities wear supplemental hair for various reasons, and I wish that they would help normalize it for people like myself!  Sometimes you may see me wear my real ("bio") hair up (especially when it's 90 degrees in my classroom!), and perhaps you wouldn't have noticed if I didn't say something.  The point of sharing this is that we all have insecurities, and this is mine.  It took me a long time, but I choose to own it.
