This advertisement shows the stereotype that women are weak and can't do certain things. It implies that men are stronger than women and that women are incapable. They have chosen to portray a woman who is very feminine with perfectly styled hair, perfect eyebrows and red nails. The target audience is women because the tagline "You mean a woman can open it...?" is meant to encourage them to buy it because they've made it 'easy enough' to open.

Stereotypes
This advertisement shows the stereotype that the woman isn't capable enough to complete the simple job she is meant to be doing, cooking as she has burnt the food. The man is wearing a suit and has just gotten home from work. It shows the man as very strong and manly drinking beer and the woman as very ditsy, stupid and fragile as she burnt the food and is crying about it with her strong husband comforting her.

The Message
The message suggests that even if the wife burns food and is incapable of cooking the man will have the beer to have instead so he doesn't have to worry about his wife burning food or not doing something properly. The advertisement shows that beer is only for men.

Target Audience
The target audience is men as it says that is a woman burns the food or messes up the cooking, which they are suggesting is inevitable that she cant ruin the beer.

Comment:
Wow Mia, this is a really good advertisment you used. I find it super interesting how he is using the excuse "you didn't burn the beer" to comfort his wife. Beer can't possibly be burnt so the fact that he is using this excuse makes him sound like he is belittling his wife and treating her like a child. Another interesting thing about this advertisement is in the little writing down below it has 'or woman' in brackets, showing it isn't normal for a woman to drink beer. Great work Mia, your did really well

The stereotypes presented are that women always do the domestic work, such as cleaning, and never get a break as men are incapable of doing this work. It also shows that women have the purpose to just provide for men by doing all the work around the house, which thus pleases the men and makes them happy. Furthermore, the stereotype is that men encourage women to do all the domestic work as the image shows the product to be called Mr Clean.

The message of this image is that women are not allowed to have a break because they should always be pleasing men. However, it is also challenging the stereotype that women always do the work, through the reference of "this mother's day get back to the job that really matters". This is because it is trying to convey that men actually can do the cleaning because the cleaning product represents a man.

The target audience is woman as it is trying to say to women that they must always do the cleaning and shouldn't take a break from doing so, even if it is a special day. The use of the sparkling shine further reinforces that women are being encouraged that they are not missing out on anything by doing the domestic work, because they get good results, such as a clean house which can lead to a tolerable husband.

This advertisement suggests that women are the housewives who do the the cleaning. It stereotypes them as the person who looks after the family. The advertisement is aimed at women, saying they are the ones who know how to clean and the best cleaning products. The message of the advertisement is that women clean and will know that Clorox is a reliable product and that they should buy it for washing and cleaning.
Comment:
Really well-chosen advertisement Sarah, I like how it shows that women are stereotyped to do all the cleaning in the house. It's very interesting with its presumption that all women know what Clorox is, as they must use it to clean all the time if they are doing a proper job. I also like how it is suggesting to men that their wives are only really doing a good job cleaning if they use this product, which further reinforces how men are ungrateful for all the work women do, particularly domestic work. Another visual point I found interesting was the use of the woman wearing an apron, with permed hair and a dress, which reiterates the femininity of this advertisement and shows that the women must obviously do all the domestic work. Really great work, Sarah.

This stereotypical advertisement implies that a woman's purpose is to have children and it is their one big role of life. The target audience is for stay at home mums, as they should be the ones who take care of their children while the men work and earn money.

This is aimed at women because stereo typically they are the ones who are in charge of domestic cleaning. There are never men in these adverts which often sparks a lot at controversy.

comment:
well done faye, you properly analysed this advertisement, as you mentioned the target market, and stated the stereotype. it is disgraceful how still to this day, women are still seen as the cleaners of the household. This advertisement should be targeted at both genders, not just aiming it at women, as everyone is different. as you said, the lack of showing men in these types of cleaning advertisements, sparks a lot of controversy in our society.
overall, fantastic job!
- Elloise

This advertisement is extremely stereotypical, posing women as the domestic cleaners of the household and having the job of doing all the chores, suggested through the tagline "While she's busy doing other chores.." The advertisement is aimed at typical housewives who have numerous cleaning jobs to do around the house and so to have this self-cleaning oven would take one less task off their mind and allow them to complete other chores that need doing. The woman presented in the picture is wearing a traditional cleaning apron which maids are stereotyped to wear. Having a double meaning of the wife being the 'maid' of the house to do all the work.
A sense of femininity is also displayed in this advertisement as the woman is wearing high heels, a long dress and her hair is done up in a fancy do even though she is completing household chores, which conveys the message of how women are expected to maintain a particularly feminine look in society in order to be deemed 'acceptable' even when doing messy, dirty cleaning jobs. A pleased expression is also conveyed on the woman's face, to show how cleaning makes her most happy.
