Every assessments last question is: Tell me anything else you know or have learned about this topic that you may not have seen on this assessment! (I love reading stories about travels, kids books, and even have found tik toks and youtube videos from this!)

For my mid-terms and finials I make a khoot that has every possible question students will have for the test and use that as a review. To make it for a grade there is an embedded word scramble with the questions.

Use IXL science for homework it does have a variety of how the questions are answered in some cases. Also use it for quick quizzes over specific standards, it does have a TN State Standards sections.

I use Phet labs, which you can access through clever, to do online labs with students

I have students rotate around the room and answer questions. They are assigned groups and given a large chart paper. They solve the problem and then teach it to their peers.

There are great tools students can use (highlight text, notepad, eliminate answers, etc.) while testing that provide very similar functions as the online benchmarks and TCAP.

I use task cards sets & have the students review content covered via "speed dating" style --> where I have the students use an "answer sheet" to record their responses. More info in another post :-)

1.) Each student is given one task card, for smaller classes some students may end up with 2 cards. 2.) Students are given btw 1min.- 1.5minutes to read the card & respond (answer the question); then swap with a table mate. 3.) Once the tablemates have done each card's task then the tables swap sets clockwise around the classroom.

The Unfair Game

I compile review questions into a big powerpoint with 1 question per slide to play The Unfair Game.

Rules/Instructions:

-Write "mystery prize 1-5" up on the board with blanks to write names next to them.

-Pop the question up on the screen; all students answer the question on a mini white board (I set a 30s-1m timer depending on the question)

-Spin a random seat selection spinner (free online, it helps if desks are numbered)

-Student in the selected seat answers. If correct, they write their name next to a mystery prize, if wrong, I spin 1 more time to allow a chance to steal.

-Once all 5 mystery prizes have been claimed, once you get to question 6 the fun begins, and correct answers allow students to knock other students of the prize board and put their name up.

-When you are done with time, whoever has their name next to a mystery prize gets their prize.

During review time, I have all students complete a comprehensive assessment. I then have specific days to review standards. For each review date, students are grouped and students that scored the highest on that standard are the tutors for 15 minutes to the small group. After the small group discussions, the class share out any additional questions and address misconceptions.

This is a fun way to practice any skill and practice vocabulary.

I have used Gimkit in my classroom. It has a variety of games that students can play. I review subject matter with my students. You can create your own or review what someone else has submitted. The students have to answer questions correctly to get another opportunity to continue the game. It also will put them in teams for some games.
