The painting demonstrates Judith who crept into the community of her enemy to seduce and kill him as he was in his most vulnerable state, according to the bible. With blood on her sword, Judith holds the head of her enemy.

This painting uses various symbols to represent Christ as victor of sin and death. The infant symbolizes Christ’s humanity or the power of reincarnation. The cross is the symbol of ultimate sacrifice. Stepping on a snake and the skeleton work as a symbol of sin. Overall, this painting represent the essential tenet of Christianity. 

This piece of art is made of hand-carved polychromed wood, with a traditional technique among locals. The figurines represent the eleven thousand virgins that accompanied Saint Ursula on a religious pilgrimage to Cologne. The saints are popular in Puerto Rico due to the supplicatory procession known as La Rogativa, organized by Bishop Zengotita during a British attack in 1797. The people carried torches which led to the English to believe that military reinforcement arrived, causing them to withdraw from the island.

El edificio del Capitolio que se utiliza actualmente, fue diseñado por un arquitecto llamado Edward Durell Stone.

La colección del Museo consta de 4,500 obras de arte. El arte del museo es reconocido por sus grandes pinturas puertorriqueñas y latinoamericanas.

El Museo de Arte de Ponce se ha convertido en una institución esencial para el desarrollo educativo y la transformación social de las comunidades.

El museo también tiene una biblioteca que contiene información para el estudio e investigación de las obras de artes y colecciones del Museo. La biblioteca contiene 25,000 publicaciones relacionadas con el arte.
