Chile's government is a representative democratic republic. The President serves as the head of both the state and the government.

Spanish conquistadors began to colonize the region of present-day Chile, and the territory became a colony between 1540 and 1820, when it gained independence from Spain. ("History of Chile", 2017,
 p. 1)

I believe that because of the colonization of the region, they wanted a free government where they could have a voice. 

As of September 2017 there are 28 legally constituted political parties in Chile ("List of political parties in Chile", 2017, p.1)

I believe that because of the number of political parties there are, all citizens need a voice and a representative.

The Constitution establishes three independent branches: the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial. ("Government and state of Chile", 2011, p. 1) This is similar to our government in the U.S! 

The President is responsible for both government and state administration in Chile.The term length is four years. A president is not eligible for re-election immediately ("President of Chile", 2017, p.1)

Citizens of Chile have many rights and freedoms, just like citizens of the U.S. The rights in Chile are very similar to the rights in the U.S, But here are some that stood out to me: Protection of refugees, 
LGBT rights, and Internet freedom.

Chile ranks #10 on the Index of Economic Freedom. The GDP is worth $422.4 billion in U.S dollars, which is a 2.1% growth and $23,460 per capita. The unemployment rate is 6.4% and the inflation is 4.3%. ("Chile Economy: Population, GDP, Inflation, Business, Trade, FDI, Corruption", 2017, p.1)

Chile's primary export commodities include copper, fruit, fish products, paper and pulp, wine and chemicals. ("Chile Trade, Exports and Imports", 2010,  p. 3)

Chile's primary import commodities include fuel oil, civilian aircraft and parts, petroleum products, and computer accessories. ("Chile Trade, Exports and Imports", 2010,  p. 4)
