(1) In her talk, she reminded that life is full of choices. Hence, there really is no point in looking back and asking "what if", because just when we've decided on something, we'll be needing to make another one. Ongkiko inspired me to make the most out of now — to focus instead of what I have and use it to ultimately love.

(2) Loving someone is never easy — Ongkiko herself says it. But I like the way she phrased it. That though love is painful, and we are stretched thin because of it, we become better as a person. Loving, though hard, is worth it. This essentially inspires me to try to love regardless of how hard it may seem.

It was just a simple word addition and yet it drastically changed the meaning of the simple phrase. At this point in my life, I honestly still am unsure about what I wish to become in the future. In my mind, I constantly tell myself that I should just settle with becoming a doctor so I can earn a lot, even though I'm not fully interested in the career yet. But upon hearing Ms. Ongkiko's story, I suppose it added an extra layer to this already complex decision. Her sharing got myself to ask the question, "would I truly be happy with that job?" Would I enjoy what I do as a doctor? Would I become a loving doctor? 

As of now, I don't have any concrete answers to these personal questions that were evoked by Ms. Ongkiko's sharing. However, I'm thankful that it has managed to open my eyes to the spirit of magis. I was reminded to look back at the whys in the things that I do. It made me reassess my priorities in life and helped reorient my worldview towards becoming more compassionate to those in need. Hopefully one day, like Sabs Ongkiko, I'll find the career that will truly make me happy and others happy as well.
