Odyssey Example:  This is a really solid choice.  O was likely experiencing both physical and mental pain here.  Take some time to develop or bulk this example up with description and explanation of how it relates to "pushing through"
Contemporary Example:  This would be easy to bulk up with research to add details and quotations.
Anti-definition: What could easily be confused with or mistaken for "pain"?

 Hook: Victory is something very one needs to feel accomplished in day to day life, whether is is a little victory's or  a gigantic victory. definition: A triumph in a battle or advent. Anti definition: loss in a battle or advent. (Hey, Zakk! Mrs. V. here: The anti-definition should be a word that could easily be mistaken for victory - like "winning" or "serendipity" or such) personal example: Getting toilet paper at the store and winning an argument with my brother (So, in your essay, you'll tell these as stories - with action, description, dialogue, etc.).  Odyssey example: when Odysseus returns home and kills his wife's suitors. Current example: I don't think this qualifies as current, but Donald Trump winning the 2016 election despite all of the odds (it does indeed count - contemporary is just something that happened or is happening in this era! Odyssey Example:  was there ever a time when O was just plain stubborn?  I don't know, I'm just thinking it might be a fun addition.
