This was my 1st class due to the fact that I am attending the workshop as a replacement for another teacher from my school. Even though it was basically "Day one" for me, I learnt a wealth of information within a short space of time; how to effectively use Spreadsheets, Mail-merge to 3 or more recipients, design a presentation with Sway etc. What I found most interesting was the use of "spiral" in the classroom. I can definitely see myself incorporating that in my lessons as it opens an avenue for me to become more interactive with my students using the aid of technology.

As a "Creative," I firmly believe that the "teacher-centred" didactic approach is out-dated in the 21st Century. With the advent of social media and subsequent devices that fertilise opinionated growth among our young people, i think it will be unfair to stiffle or muffle their freedom of communication by sterilising their minds with mudane/ archaic didactic instruction. Instead, i believe that it is critically important that we foster an educational environment that will readily involve our 21st century students.

Before writing this reflective entry, I took the liberty of researching some materials both for and against didacticism and i stumbled upon the attached youtube video from Tedx Talks. In this video, the presenter Joe Ruhl, was able to effectively communicate his idea of engaging students through the utilization of his "6 C" method:
1)Choice
2) Collaboration
3) Communication
4) Critical Thinking
5)Creativity
6) Care

In short, the "didactic approach" is outdated and i thoroughly agree with the employment of teaching methods for inspiring the students of the future.
