Each step of the process of learning/ teaching is based on tasks that should be accomplished in order to reach its original goal. At the bases of the pupils' tasks there are some elements that shouldn't be absent to complete the process of learning/teaching ; some of these elements are attention, interest, partecipation, collaboration, taking responsability and others. These elements must be assessed and coded following a common scale of indicators to share and compare results with other people and other ciconstances . So it is necessary to use rubrics that can be adapted in various circostances and with several people.

We are used to instruments and ways to assess our students outcomes in a traditional subject-based lesson. When it comes to assess 21st century skills, well, everything is different and, honestly, quite difficult. Dr Butler's approach offers an excellent perspective: 21st CLD rubrics help teachers ask themselves questions which are crucial in the process of planning, implementing and evaluating key skills. The main question is: "Am I actually integrating these skills?"

The idea of working in this way is to highlight what key skills are needed to work on the activity we have designed and what level we have achieved in each of them at the end of the activity.

Nowadays, teachers globally are trying to improve their teaching methods and apply those that can better prepare their pupils for life and work in the 21st century. The purpose of the 21st Century Learning Design rubrics is to help teachers design learning activities which can help students to build 21st century skills. The rubrics focus on developing six areas of 21st century learning, each of which represents an important skill for students to develop...
I think that first of all teachers need to learn how to integrate 21st century skills in their own teaching. 21st Century Learning Design requires educators to be active knowledge-builders, adopting and using the very skills they are trying to instill in their students: collaboration, knowledge-building, self-regulation, assessment, learning to learn, use of technology for learning.....

Does ICT use enable new knowledge construction or extend learning beyond the classroom opportunities that would not have been possible without it? Have digital tools been used in imaginative and ground-breaking ways to support learning processes? I find the document which describes the 21CLD rubrics very useful and easy to follow. As for a learning activity that would achieve the highest score in one of the rubrics, for example collaboration, I would choose creating a class online newspaper where each of the students would have to write an article but they would have to work together in order to chose the best topics, give feedback to each other and decide how to organise the articles in order to create the best class online newspaper. In this activity, they share responsibility, make substantive decisions and their work is interdependent.

First of all, I'd like to point out one of things Deirdre said about the set of 21st century competences. Earlier, it was enough that just a few of us could show these kind of competences. Nowadays it is essential that everybody has them, to be able to live in this world. Therefore I believe that the 21st century competences play a very important role. The 21st century learning design rubics correlate with the above mentioned competences, so I think it's important to implement them into lesson planning. The cheat sheet is quite helpful as teachers can check which level/step they reach with their task. When I think about some of my lessons, I recognize many different rubrics that I involved in my activities, but only sometimes get to the highest stage.

I´m a beginer at using 21 CLD rubrics. I "discovered it" when I enrolled the MOOC Collaborative Teaching and Learning. I´ve learned that the strongest learning activities are designed so that student work is interdependent, requiring all students to contribute in order for the team to succeed. At higher levels of the rubric students have shared responsibility for their work, and the learning activity is designed in a way that requires students to make substantive decisions together. These features help students learn the important collaboration skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, agreement on what must be done, distribution of tasks, listening to the ideas of others, and integration of ideas into a coherent whole. And when students have shared responsibility is more than simply helping each other: students must collectively own the work and be mutually responsible for its outcome, make substantive decisions together when they must resolve important issues that will guide their work together. Substantive decisions are decisions that shape the content, process, or product of students’ work. All these competences are i order to the 21 st century competences.

The items with the highest score are those in which there is a true collaborative work and not just a group work. The rubrics incorporate a framework for coding learning activities along a number of questions to ensure us they are embedding 21st Century Skills in our teaching practices.

I am a beginner at using 21 CLD rubrics. I know it when I enrolled the MOOC Collaborative Teaching and Learning. I have learned that the strongest learning activities are designed so that student work is interdependent, requiring all students to contribute in order for the team to succeed. Like Deirdre said at higher levels of the rubric students have shared responsibility and the learning activity is designed in a way that requires students to make substantive decisions together.

Among the tools we have been exploring in this course the 21CLD rubrics are , in my view, the most valuable. As Dr Butler has underlined several times, the starting point of a process towards the designing of a "learning environment that actually capitalizes on 21st century skills" is a shared understanding. The rubrics are a powerful instruments that allow teachers ask themselves some major questions ("what I need to intervene on, what I need to develop...") in order to ensure they are effectively incorporating those skills in their learning activities. As for an activity that could achieve the maximum score, students creating a collaborative writing collaborative may be an example for the collaboration rubric.

I think that basically implementing Rubrics relates to the capacity of making good questions about how, what, what for, why... we teach or learn something. To assess the teaching and learning process has always been considered subjective that is why we use traditional exams or quiz as in this course. It's important to rationalize our criteria of assessment but there is the danger of falling again narrowness of numbers. What students learn can't be viewed only through numbers.

The activity is almost complex. Students have to share their abilities: from the graphics to the sound editing, to the CSharp scripting, so on and so forth. They first plan their work, then design the game, then segment the creation, then collaborate in making the whole thing. Rubrics make it clear to the teacher/s as well as the students the prerequisites and the purpose of each step.
But my main concern is: how about our final exams which are always just the same traditional since ages?

I gave this example before, but I think it's ok to present it again. High level of collaboration: a student’s discussion forum, about specific literary work or author. The students have to prepare a presentation on a literary work, choosing one of the themes proposed in the study and presentation tool. The preparation takes place both in the classroom, with the teacher scaffolding, and outside the classroom. tudents take decisions and the work can be interdependent; work in groups to discuss an issue; to develop a common response, being mutually responsible for its outcome; and they take substantive decisions such as taking a stance on a topic they will then write about, and plan what they will do, when to do it, what tools they will use, or the roles and responsibilities of people on the team considering the discussion forum. Interdependence work can have the two levels of accountability, depending on teacher/students choice.

Ana Fonseca, Portugal: The 21CLD is a very interesting tool in helping teachers creating new learning scenarios in their schools. The Rubrics helps us developing meaningful learning activities for our future practice. They help us designing activities that will allow students to work collaboratively and independently without being always dependent on the teacher. This way, they are real builders of their knowledge and the ones who have to take deep decisions about the way they learn and build their future. By using the Rubrics we are helping students to learn important collaboration skills of negotiation, conflict resolution, agreement on what must be done, distribution of tasks, listening to the ideas of others, and integration of ideas into a coherent whole. Of course there are challenges for both teachers and students but at the end it will be worth all the work done.

In my opinion, 21 CLD rubrics may be quite useful for the teacher to develop meaningful learning activities for the 21st Century Skills. On the other hand, there are cases when students have achieved a skill considered high level in one of the 21 CLD rubrics but they lack of another one, which is considered lower-level, e.g. they work in an interdependent work but they do not make substantial decisions about it. An example of a learning activity that can achieve the highest score for collaboration rubric is using software like Interactive Physics or Modellus for exploring the behavior of a vibrating body. The students are divided into groups, where each one has a specific role (the students work together and have shared responsibilities). The roles are interchanged within each group. Each group is asked to create a model of a vibrating body and explore some of its properties. The students have the freedom to choose the exact software to work with. They are also asked to design and do simple experiments to check their results (the students make substantive decisions). Finally, each group has to present its work and results n the class (the students’ work is interdependent).

I find very interesting 21CLD rubrics. They are a milestone in the process of learning. No rating you can not design a learning activity, you can not see the progress or the difficulties of the students. It 'important to share with colleagues address books across the board to make uniform the learning process.

I summarize here the tools that we have had to be able to make the transformation from the blackboard class to the online environment. Most of the tools are available for Windows 10 or iOS:

Videoconferencing: Microsoft Teams
Class recording: Microsoft Teams
Allows recording of a specific window, or the entire desktop, with the image of the speaker in a corner (optional)
Whiteboard (software): Microsoft Whiteboard
It is much more than chalk: it allows you to directly add fragments of Power Point, PDF, clipboard images, text, grid background ...
If you want to use the whiteboard on an iPad to use Whiteboard, you use a PC to start the Teams conference and any application that allows sharing the tablet screen (mirroring).
Whiteboard (digital writing tablet): Wacom Intuos S
Video Editor: Windows 10 Photos or Losslesscut
For advanced manipulation of resolution or playback speed without altering the pitch of voice: Shotcut (open source)
Cloud video repository: Office 365 Video or Stream (just deployed at UPM)
