By comparing these two shots of our music video and the professional shot you can clearly see that my partner and I tried to recreate this particular shot, by placing the actress in the same position as the actor in the other video. The shot itself in the professional on sticks to the convention of real media products for the genre of Indie Rock as one of the common features of this is the lighting. The lighting enhances the mood of the song, which in this shot is seen to clearly visible. The use of blue tones and the darkness of the lift itself creates this sense of distress. Whereas, the lighting in our replica of the shot is seen quite bright, rather than dark, which challenges this convention of an Indie Rock music video, however the body language and the emotion that the actor shows, creates a sense of being depressed or in wonder. To improve this my partner and I would have made the lighting much darker and stronger so it can reflect and enhance the actor’s feelings, and the mood of the song itself, if we wanted to stick to the convention.
