It was shown in a study that violent gamers and people that didn't play video games were compared in a study. In the study, they were shown emotion proviking images and the results for empathy levels were the same. Videogames that are believed to cause higher levels of agression are only for short-term time periods but for long time periods there were no significant differences between violent gamers and non-gamers. There hasn't been suffient studies to link violent video games to violent behavior.
