This picture of 5-year-old me is for physical development in early childhood. I wanted to focus on sleep because this was a big part of my childhood. Children around this age need 10-11 hours of sleep, and when I got that amount. I took a nap on a daily occasion and slept in when going to kindergarten because I was afternoon half-day. I went to bed at 8pm every night at a routine as well, getting about 9 hours at night too.

I chose a child having a tea party with her teddy bear for early childhood cognitive development. A child in this stage of life will engage in pretend play and animism. When I was around 3 years old, I would play games with my stuffed animals and give them human actions and roles to play with me. The tea parties were just one game I would play, they would all have teacups and we would pretend to be fancy. This showed pretend play with tea parties, and animism because my stuffed animals were given life by drinking and eating.

This photo of my cousins aged 3 and 5 at the time playing in the rain is for early childhood social development. The two of them are engaging in play together which is important for this age group. They are playing together, making it cooperative play. I choose this picture because all of my family would play together. Playing in the rain together was a big part of my childhood or playing tag with the neighborhood kids. Engaging in play for children is a crucial part of early social development. Social play helped me form relationships with my family and friends growing up and gives me some memories from my childhood.

This shows a newborn baby feeding on a bottle, indicating the reflexes they are born with. When you push on a newborn's tongue, they have the instinct to start sucking, letting them suck on the bottle and feed. This relates to my newborn development because I was bottle fed from birth. With this reflex I was able to eat or have pacifiers.

This is a picture of my cousin, showing the start of a social smile during infant development. Around 1 month old, he started to have social smiles, and as time goes on, he will start directing his smiles towards people. This is normal for a 1-month-old baby, and it will start to grow as he gets older eventually into a laugh. This relates to my individual development because I was also a happy baby. I was typically smiling at people and was often laughing as I got older.

This picture of me at a swim meet shows me physical development in middle childhood, focusing on sports. Swimming was the sport I did all throughout middle childhood, starting age 5 and continuing into today. Doing sports helps a child build strength and endurance, while also learning to be comfortable with ourselves. The biggest thing with sports is being happy in them, and swimming was something that made me happy while improving all the physical aspects of this time in development. I got stronger, I was more balanced than I was in earlier years, and I had more endurance to play with my friends and family.

This picture of me reading directions shows how much my cognitive abilities increased through middle childhood. I was 10 years old when building this telescope, and it was because I was fascinated with space and wanted to learn more. Me reading and following the directions shows complex thinking. I followed directions and rules to get an outcome using logic if the directions didn't make sense. A lot of my later middle childhood was spent building and reading directions because I was interested in making things and building creativity independently. My parents let me do these activities in my own way. An example was the telescope because I didn't do the directions in order (other pictures showed this) because I felt they weren't in the correct order, and I wanted to do it my way.

This picture is for middle childhood social development, focusing on Erikson's industry vs. inferiority. I chose this because it shows how I was successful in swimming, and this was in late middle childhood. I gained a sense of industry, wanting me to continue with swimming through those years. I felt competent in swimming to want to try new things to be a better swimmer. If I felt inferiority, I wouldn't have continued with the sport. I would have felt inadequate, making me leave swimming. This related to my childhood because I always avoided things I wasn't good at, like art, but always focused on what I was good at like swimming or math.
