She is looking out for the family more then for her by making sure Beneatha has money to go to school so she has a better life. Then making sure Travis has a good childhood saying how she wants a little yard for him. Then even though she's getting older she is willing to work so have more money come in so she can get the house for them. She doesn't complain about anything, and she likes to look on the brighter side of things and dwell on the bad things in life. I do think think that Mama is a good person she likes to help others that she will worry about everyone else but herself. For Beneatha she is really determined to really be a doctor in this play. At this time too it was very rare for a women to go into fields like that, The reason was a women was suppose to be a house wife and the men would be the money maker by and working. Even in the play Walter says, " Aint many girls who decide-" " to be a doctor." In the lyrics like the my love is alive way down in my heart that just makes me think of how she had lost her husband. Like the way she will talk about him like how when she got the check how he was the best thing ever in her life that no money was worth on how he was a person.Then when it says " if you ever need a helping hand I'll be there on the double just as fast as I can" that makes me think of how when mama said she wanted the family to move into a house she would pick up another job just so she could help the family out so they wouldn't have to worry. Also how Benetha how she wants to find a job and go to school then with her seeing the man she wants.At the end she kind of ends up with Asagai and she genuinely is happy with him.
