Despite Federalist opposition, the Louisiana Purchase is a good thing for the United States. It is going to grant the United States access to the Mississippi River and it is going to make thousands of acres of farmland available. The explorers, Lewis and Clark have already encountered new groups of people, such as Shoshone. According to a source, Lewis and Clark have also "collected valuable information about people, plants, animals and the geography of the West." This shows that the newly acquired territory will provide many benefits for this nation.
