Answer: With any literature, the beliefs of the writer and the beliefs of the writer's community influence the literature produced. In this case, with the Puritans, there was an almost overwhelming belief in God and in the concept of Hell. This pertains directly to the content of Puritan literature because this, in large part, was what they were writing about. As previously noted, their writing was focused on faith. Their beliefs also relate to their style of writing because, not only were the writers attempting to be clear and concise in order to get the message of God across, but as their lives were focused on God, there was not much room for imagination, creativity, or entertainment in their minds or in their writing.
