today, we can find racism through red lining. this allows places like banks to split up neighborhoods into low and high level areas. this, combined with implicit bias against people of color, makes it so that places with more people of color get less resources and loans. this makes it so that people of color notice the need for change more often then white or lighter skinned people. examples of this can be seen through studies by the pew research center showing that compared to the 33 out of the 99 white people who thought that not enough progress has happened on racial equality for black people to the 82 black people who thought the same.

In September 2025, a Black teacher in California discovered a pipe bomb with hateful racial slurs behind her car,an act to frighten and hurt her. weeks before, in Simi Valley, a group of white teens attacked a Black teen while yelling slurs. This reminds us that hatred and white supremacy continue to affect real people’s lives every day.

One contemporary example is in Hw2. The article talks about how ice is able to stereotype people during immigration raids. This upholds colorism because they are legally able to deport people based on their skin complexion.

Racism doesn’t just hurt people physically,it also deeply affects their mental health. Facing racism can cause anxiety, depression, and constant stress, making people feel powerless and alone. On top of that, many don’t get the help they need because of barriers in the system. That’s why fighting racism is so important for everyone’s well-being and for building a fairer world

we find racism today through disparities. this is causing the unequal treatment of other groups like them not treating them equally based on their skin color

Racism isn’t just about hate from people, it’s a system that affects life, like school, health care, and safety. Facing racism over and over causes stress and hurts mental health. To fix this, we need to change the systems that allows racism and make sure everyone is treated fairly. That’s how we can create a more equal world.

The impact of racism shows up in stereotypes, racial profiling and discrimination. Racism impacts people interpersonally. Some examples are people getting profiled and pulled over. This can lead to others in the same marginalized group feeling more stressed out or anxious. This makes a ripple effect of the next generation fearing being stereotyped through their parents experiences. Or even people subconsciously stereotyping people based on their upbringing.
