I used to think entertainment was just activities that brought enjoyment and amusement to people.

Now I think that entertainment is more of activities that hold the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight. It is not only through ways such as plays, movies, music etc. but can also be through different activities from culture to culture and century to century. For example, public punishments which was once considered entertaining but have been removed from public arena. Necessary skills like cooking which has also been developed into entertainment through ways like performances and competition, fencing or archery, also once necessary skills, have become serious sports and profession for athletes, and developed into entertainment with wider appeal for bigger audiences. Entertainment for one group or individual may be regarded as work by another as well. Entertainment can also come in many different forms and types, catering to the interest of the audience and their age. Such as child, adult, public, live and corporate entertainment.

We used to think that entertainment is an event, activity or performance that provides the audience with enjoyment and amusement. When someone is entertained, their attentions is captured by whatever that is interesting and they are focused. After reading the articles, we now think that entertainment is activities and events that can develop over a thousand of years for the purpose of keeping ones attention. The different forms of entertainment can cross over different media and have demonstrated a seemingly unlimited potential for Creative remix. Some forms of entertainment like cooking and sports are regarded as work for another individual. There are also different types and forms of entertainment that we did not consider. Games , performance, reading, dance are all considered as entertainment. The are also different audience types such as child, adults, public etc as different people have different interests in different things. Overall, we learnt much more about entertainment and the many forms that we never once thought of so it was an eye opener. 🤓
