His responsibilities in this position include the oversight of more than 140 staff members as well as the public relations and budgetary concerns for three school districts spanning five communities. As superintendent, Bruce Houck also drives and maintains school improvements in all areas of operation. Some of his achievements as SWEC superintendent include developing online educational programs and resources and establishing a learning assistance center (LAC) for students in the elementary school and high school. Bruce Houck completed his undergraduate studies at Northern State University in 1982. He subsequently enrolled in a master of arts in educational administration program at the University of South Dakota.
