         <title>The Ways to Improve Memory</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Goofy K<br>Daniel Li<br>When a person is becoming older, their memory skill is becoming worser, but there are certain ways which you can use to improve your memory skill. Using the loci method, sleeping more, eating food that have high antioxidant can all help to improve your memory skill.</div><div>&nbsp; By using the loci method, you can improve your memory skill. The word “loci” means place, so the loci method is a memory skill that first remember its place. The procedures of the loci method are first, you visualize a place you are familiar with in your mind, then you organize the thing you want to remember in order, next you put the things you want to remember in your mind map which is the place that you are familiar with, and put a funny or special things beside it, because funny or special things are always easier to remember. At last, imagine you are going into this place that you are familiar with, and you can remember all the things you want to remember in the room’s location. Many people had used the loci method to remember certain things. For example, Gary Shang used the loci method to prove the digit 65,536(216). Peter of Ravenna used the loci method to remember 200 speeches and 1,000 poems. Using loci method is a very smart way to remember things.</div><div>&nbsp; By sleeping more, you can improve your memory skill. Scientists proved that when you slept, your brain started creating long-term memory, and long-term memory is better than short-term memory which can improve your memory skill. They proved this by doing an experiment, first, they let to teams of rats remember the routes of a maze, then they let the rats slept, but they gave one group of rats a drug which stop the brain from creating long-term memory while sleeping. When the rats finished sleeping, only the rat who didn’t have the drug successfully passed the maze.</div><div>&nbsp; By eating foods that have high antioxidant can improve your memory skill. For example, dark chocolates, strawberries and raspberries can all improve your memory skill. Chocolates has 15 millimole of antioxidants per 3.5 ounces, dark chocolate also have many health benefits such as less inflammation and reduced risk factors which caused heart disease. Strawberries has 5.4 millimole of antioxidants per 3.5 ounces, the anthocyanins in strawberry which made it red can also reduce risk factors which cause heart disease. Raspberries have 4 millimole antioxidants per 3.5 ounces, the antioxidants and other components in a raspberry killed 90% of the breast cancer cells. Eating food that have high antioxidants is very important for improving memory skill, and it is easier than the two techniques above.</div><div>&nbsp; I think the using the loci method is the smartest way to improve memory, because it is a technique that did not cost you a lot of time; sleeping more is the most important way to improve memory skill, because sleeping is a rest for your entire body; eating food that have high antioxidant is the most enjoyable way to improve memory skill, because surprisingly, all the food that have high antioxidant is the food that I like to eat.</div>]]></description>

Because when we sleep, there's a type of brain activity that happens during sleep in creating memories. So when we sleep, it is actually making oue brain/memory better.<br><br>Our brain can benefit from a healthy diet. Foods that have antioxidants are good for brain cells. If you still can’t remember it, then you can copy the things again. Keep repeating these steps until you have remembered the things that you want to remember. There is a reason that this will help you remember, too. According to《Science News to students》, using a pen or pencil activates more areas of memory in your brain. Writing can create memory in your muscle as well as the words in your brain. |Another way of remembering things easier is to remind yourself the thing you need to remember everyday. Let’s say that you want to remember that you need to water the plants . You went home and set an alarm clock at 8:00 PM, reminding you to water the plants. The alarm rings every day at 8:00 PM, and you water the plants every day at 8:00 PM. Soon, you will found out that you don’t need an alarm clock to remind you that you need to water the plants. You had already remembered to water the plants as a daily routine. The key to remembering a thing is to convince your brain that this thing can affect your life. For example, when you touched something hot (like boiling water) when you are very small, you will remember it for the rest of your life. By reminding yourself everyday, you can convince your brain that this information is very important. Another reason is because your brain forget things when you don’t use that information for a long time because the brain think that the information is useless. By reminding yourself everyday, you can remember the things that you are remembering, because your brain would think that this is useful and you would need it everyday. |If these methods don’t fit for you, you can try remembering things before you eat or when you are hungry. For example, you need to remember a poem. Before dinner, you can revise your poem for about 30 minutes. After a few times, you will discover that you had memorized the poem. That is because there is more blood in your brain when you are hungry. More blood can help you brain work better. After you ate, the blood in your brain moves to your stomach, to help digest the food. By using these methods, you can make more long-lasting memories.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Sleep has mainly 4 stages: which are REM, Non-REM 1, Non-REM 2, Non-REM 3. According to research, there is a special brain activity which transfer information from hippocampus to the neocortex, it changes the short-time activity to the long-time activity. Scientists call this activity “sharp wave ripple”. But this activity will only happen at the deepest level of sleep, which is Non-REM Stage 3. So, good sleep will help improve memory.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Playing games can also help improve memory. According to the paragraph, some mental activity might help memory, it was good for your brain. Like math, puzzle… Even reading and writing! This can also help you with critical thinking and study, maybe also math Summative.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The last method I’m going to talk about is eating high antioxidant food. Our brain can also benefit from a healthy diet, like our body. Food that contain antioxidant are good for our brain cells, this also help with memory.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Do you have trouble memorizing things? Well if so, I have three methods that might just be the key to remembering almost everything in a short period of time.&nbsp;<br><br>If you have trouble remembering numbers and are fantastic at memorizing words and like stories, this is the method for you. First, you code each number with a letter from the alphabet. Then you group the string of numbers together into groups of three. After that, each group would form a sound similar to a word, phrase, or name. Finally, create a story with the words, phrases, or names and this will make it easier for you to memorize.&nbsp;<br><br>In case the tip didn’t work for you, the loci method might just work for you. This trick was used by Nelson Dellis who memorized a deck of cards in 16.96 seconds setting a world record! This method works by choosing a familiar place and code each room or sector with one of the things you want to memorize.&nbsp;<br><br>Finally, if both tricks didn’t work, this method will be the one for you. This method speaks for itself, it is simply eating things with a high concentration of antioxidants, for example, blueberries and dark chocolate. If you don’t know what antioxidants are, they are the chemical that helps memories to travel from the hippocampus (the place that stores short-term memories) to the neocortex (the place that stores long-term memories). In conclusion, this chemical helps short-term memories turn into long-term memories in a shorter period of time.&nbsp;<br><br>In conclusion, these are three ways I recommend for you. If any of them worked for you I will be very happy for you. This brings us to the end of the three ways to improve your memorization skills.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Well, there are good ways for improving your memory: The loci method, sleeping, diet, exercise, and mnemonics.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>One way to improve your memory is by getting good sleep. Getting good sleep could help you to form your long-term memory. When you are sleeping, your sleep is separated into three levels, 1, 2, and three. Stage 3 is the deepest level of your sleep, and a person who sleeps will go through these stages at least three times. Experiments shows that when you are in the deepest level of you sleep, your brains created activity to help you form long term memory. This activity transfers new information from the hippocampus to the neocortex, which is the part the brains store long term memory. So, it’s good for you to get good sleep to improve your ability of memory.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Another way to improve your memory is by using the “Loci Method,” also called memory palace. Your memory palace can be placed at any place you like, but it must be a place that you know very well, such as your home, school, or classroom. For example, you are trying to remember the information for a test. So, let’s say that your memory palace is based on your house. Now, you visualize yourself walking around the house, placing information you need to know all over the house. For example, you placed one of the information you learned onto your desk, another on you sofa, and another hanging on your television.&nbsp; Once you’re done, try to visualize yourself walking around the house again. As you pass through places, you will remember what information you placed there. Memory palace is a good method for you to remember things.</div><div>A very good way for you to improve your memory in a fun way is by doing mnemonics. For example, some people may have trouble to remember the colors of the rainbow and the order they appear in. someone made a “word” for the first letter in the colors, “ROY G BIV”. Another example is some people (like me) have trouble to remember the conjunctions in English grammar. So, our English teacher told us the “FANBOYS”, it stands for: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so. Some people even made something hard for them to remember into funny words, phrases, even songs! So, using mnemonics can help you remember things in a fun and interesting way.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>In conclusion, Sleeping, Memory palace, and Mnemonics are all good ways to improve your memory, you can use them any time when you want to memorize something. The only thing you’ll need to do is to follow instructions and record some things with your pens. One way is to making lists and strategies, you can either write on hands, or type it on a computer. You can also label things like classes and home works for this weekend, nor places you want to go this year, by recording, you’ll be able to memorized all these things down easily. Another way, which is the thing you do almost every day at night, to get more sleep. The scientists discovered this way of improving memory in a study of rats. They trained the rats to learn a route in a maze, then they let the rats sleep. They gave one group of sleeping rats a drug that stopped brain-wave activity. As a result, the rats have trouble remembering the route. And because of the Rutgers study, we now knows how our brains create long term memory. The study proves to us that sleeping is very important, during deep sleep, brain-waves transformed the short term memories from the hippocampus to the neocortex, and the sharp waves ripples the neocortex and creates long term memories, we can also record these memories in our head for a long period of time, even months. Another simple way, is to eat foods often with high antioxidants, examples like blueberries can help improve your brain memories, they’re also good for your brain cells, this can help memory too. Blueberries have antioxidants, which is a substance in food and products that can prevent and the harmful chemical reactions in your body, these are good for the brains cells to help your memory, and the most important is blueberries are tasty! It tastes sour and sweet like orange juice, so it’s very delicious.&nbsp;</div><div>Also, I think doing some exercise is good for your memory, too. Because doing enough exercise can keep body healthy. And have a healthy body can be more energetic to remember thing, also, your brain will be more clearly than before because you got loads of energy. But don’t forget that doing too much exercise will harm your body or feel very uncomfortable, safety first!&nbsp;</div><div>Actually, I believed doing something you like is good for brain. The evidence is doing something you really like can make your body and brain more relax. If somebody is in a relaxed state, they must be easier to memory than the people that’s in a tension. This place is called neocortex. You can also eat fruit and foods that contains Vitamin B such as lemon.</div><div>By sleeping and avoiding stress, you can improve your memory. When you’re sleeping, you brain is not resting like the other organs. At your deepest sleep, your brain is creating brain waves and pushing your memory from recent days into your neocortex.&nbsp;</div><div>The last way to help your memory is that don’t memorize or think about things before eating or after eating. After and before eating, your blood and body systems were working on your stomach to digest food, and not working on your brain. So, if you think about something, you might not have an answer. It is same as reading and memorizing. You can memorize you work before you sleep because when you sleep, your brain will work on the memory during your day time. You can sleep more, eat food with antioxidant, and by taking notes of what you want to remember or some very important things.</div><div>Sleep more can definitely improve long term memory. It can help your brain be more relaxing and can better organize the new information in a long day.</div><div>By eating food with antioxidant helps improve your memory too. Especially eat Citrus fruits, such as oranges, clementine, and lemons. Citrus fruits contain Vitamin B which is good for the brain.</div><div>If these ways can’t help you improve your memory, there is another thing you can try. You can write important things that you want to remember on paper to not forget it. If your paper is gone, there is a way is to note it on the computer or phone and save it, this way you won’t lose it anymore. Some habits like eating food, sleeping, and playing video games can help.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The first thing I am going to talk about is food, the most useful food is fatty fish, this includes salmon, trout, and sardines, these fish contain omega-3, 60% of your brain is fat, and half of it is omega-3, so this is also why fatty fish is also known as “brain food”. The second food which is good for improving memory is coffee (not suggested to use for students), coffee is made up of two main ingredients - caffeine and antioxidants, these two ingredients can have many positive effects- 1. Increased alertness: Caffeine keeps your brain alert by blocking adenosine, a chemical messenger that makes you sleepy. 2. Improve mood: caffeine can boost some cells which makes you feel good. 3. Help concentration: research has shown that when people drink coffee in the morning have more success doing activities that involves concentration. The third food which increases memory is blueberries, blueberries, and other deeply colored berries can deliver anthocyanins, anthocyanins have effects which are similar to medicine which helps your brain, so blueberries can improve your memory and help your brain.
