CH.4 NEITO School Climate

Unfortunately, finding a good school climate in a low income area is hard. The schools in low income cities usually don't have the best apperance and most of them do carry a lot of negative influences when it comes to students and staff. In Ch.4 of Affirming Diversity by Nieto, it mentions "Not only do the former usually have more space, bigger classrooms, and more light, they also have more material supplies and generally are in better physical condition, partly because the level of financing for the education of poor students is lower than that for children in more affluent districts". I would say this is true, i went to a poor highschool, it was very hot, classrooms were small and crowded. The staff was nice, but some of them really did not help. The air quality was horrible, i remember one time there was a lot of wind blowing and something in the air went into my eye causing a cut. Going to a high income school, there was such a difference with the teachers, staff, and students. Though i didn't feel comfortable with my peers, i would say the physical school itself motivated me to go.
