I also like her relation with her parents, August, and Isaac, although I wish the author included Isaac more in the story.

The book displays Simons story and how he is blackmailed and comes out, and his friends, which I feel the author has done an amazing job showing Leah, Abby, and Nics individual personalities and the character growth of them and Simon, and the character development of Martin and how although he did blackmail Simon in the end he stopped and they became friends. I really like the way the author portrays Simons quest to figure out who Blue is.

I liked several things about this book, including that the book didn't mainly focus on the fact Alices parents were dead and her relationship with her foster family, except when she went with Teddy to go and see Stanford when she got accepted. I LOVE the character developments that happen during the story and are the best part of this book and probably the best out of many other books regarding character development. Also, there is LGBT+ representation as Leo is gay and he has a boyfriend.

They are portrayed by the characters actions, conversations, and values and beliefs. Trust and loyalty are shown through Tom and Christophers relationship, and the importance of trust and loyalty. Tom always has Christophers back and accompanies and helps him during his quest. It shows greed through the motivations of those who are the "villains" (Oswyn, Watt, etc...), and from those who are part of the Guild (Stubb, also Oswyn, etc..).

Start Date: 8/10/19
End Date: 14/10/19
Rating: 9.3/10
Just right

I think that this book is about judging others/making assumptions, accepting others, and the power of friends and relationships. I believe this because the main character, Lucy, is treated as a weirdo and is bullied by Maddie and several others in her new school. They make assumptions and judge her based on her actions, which include her being a germaphobic and always carrying around wipes and wiping the areas she interacts with (sits on them, touches them, etc.). Finally, I believe this book is also about the power of friends and relationships as Lucys friends help her when she gets bullied by Maddie and several others and stand up for her. Also, at the beginning of the book, Lucy states that her equation to happiness is "Nana + Teddy + Maths = Happiness", however at the end of the book she accepts she was incorrect, and that having friends and relationships also helps achieve Happiness.

Using facts and figures, along with real life personal encounters from the author, the book showcases "[how] we are wrong about the world - and why things are better than you think". Although I read this book in Grade 5, reading it a second time was still enlightening and right after I finished the book I actually watched all the Ted Talks the author of this book made. The way the author captures the essence of the feelings of Richard and Sasha is clearly downright awesome! The story is a true portrayal of, in the 21st century, how there is all ways more than one interpretation of art, or in this case, story! The book showcases Richard and Sasha, their very different lives, and how they intertwine. It is truly a coming-of-age story, and shows love, passion, and perspective. It also talks about, and explains, all aspects of LGBT+, especially the gender "non-binary". I could relate to bits of Sasha's story as I am not a male or a female, just like Sasha. This book also shows how everything isn't as "black and white" as we perceive, and there are shades of grey. (Being metaphorical, of course)

With his friend and co-worker, Gene, he creates a questionnaire to see the suitability of potential female partners. In the process, he meets Rosie, a careless person who fails practically all the questions in the questionaire. Dons life is then thrown into a turmoil, and it's a really interesting and amazing book. It ponders a lot of bigger questions and ideals

{Note: This book was A LOT more mature than expected and there were several parts that I didn't understand}
