According to ConnectUSFund.org, raising the driving age to 18 could reduce teen fatalities because “drivers who are 16 also have the highest crash rate than any other age”. The article explains that younger drivers are more likely to take risks and make critical errors due to inexperience. However, it also notes that this change could limit teens’ independence and make it harder for them to get to school, work, or help their families. Instead of just raising the age, the source suggests that giving teens more time to practice with instructors or parents could help them develop safer habits.

Raising the minimum driving age to 18 offers potential safety benefits by ensuring more mature and better-prepared drivers hit the roads, possibly reducing accidents among inexperienced teens. However, it may also limit independence for young people, especially in areas where public transportation is sparse, restricting their ability to commute to school, work, or social activities. This change could disproportionately affect rural or low-income communities and would require thoughtful planning to avoid unintended hardships. Ultimately, it presents a tradeoff between enhanced safety and access to early mobility. Jonathan Lagunas

Isabella Pinedo: There are many benefits and drawbacks to raising the age to obtain a driver's license to 18. For example, the potential benefits of raising the age would be the reduction of accidents in young drivers, and when you receive a license at 18, you will possibly be more mature and experienced with drivers' education and more of a serious driver. It would also reduce economic costs for accidents, and people who are 18 with a license will possibly know how to handle insurance more than being 16. To support my reasoning is from the conectus.org article about the pros and cons of raising the driving age. They also state in their article that younger drivers have a higher risk of fatal injuries due to a lack of experience.

By raising the driving age, jurisdictions have seen a reduction in accidents involving inexperienced and immature drivers. Older individuals tend to exhibit greater maturity, judgment, and decision-making skills, leading to a decrease in risky behaviors on the road. This shift has contributed to fewer collisions, injuries, and fatalities among young drivers. Furthermore, delaying the age at which individuals can obtain a driver's license allows for more time to develop cognitive abilities, emotional intelligence, and risk assessment skills before taking on the responsibilities of driving .The potential increase in the minimum driving age could have significant implications for teen independence. Access to a driver's license is often seen as a rite of passage that signifies newfound freedom and responsibility. Delaying this milestone could impact teenagers' ability to explore their independence, as driving provides a sense of autonomy and opens up opportunities for social interactions and extracurricular activities.

Raising the diving age to 18 could help make roads safer because 16- and 17-year-olds have higher crash rates than older drivers. Older teens are usually more mature and make better decisions, which could lead to fewer accidents. On the other hand, making teens wait longer to get their license could make it harder for them to get to school, work, or activities, especially in places without good public transportation. Some people think that age isn't the real problem, but rather that new drivers just need more experience. Instead of raising the age, it might be better to improve diver education and use programs that give teens more time to practice driving with limits first.

Called paganens in traditional language, this indigenous soup recipe forms a creamy concoction made with simple stock, parsley, salt, and black pepper, shallots, and hazelnuts. All you have to do is blend everything together and heat it up. Modern chefs may want to use a food processor for this recipe to break down the roasted nuts or strain the soup at the end to prevent lumps.
