Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States, one of his accomplishments which happened in September 14, 1901. He loved the environment and wanted to save it and in some way conserve it, which he made the square deal which ties in other things but mainly the conservation of natural resources. Part of the square deal were the "three C's" which are conservation of natural resources, control of corporations, and consumer protection. Which he manage to successfully accomplish across the country. Teddy Roosevelt was as people would call him a "trust buster" he broke around 44 trusts which he didn't like because they were gaining to much power from the people and controlling. Roosevelts working class were in stirke to get a better pay for mining coal but it was hurting the country because the harsh winters were coming, instead he made a statement saying if they didnt help and mine he was going to send the military and himself down there to mine making both sides compromise. Furthermore, conditions in the meat packing industries were not the best at all. Rats, disgusting work stations, and rotten meat were everywhere and it was not healthy for the workers or anyone to work in those conditions which is why Upton Siclair worte the book "The Jungle" which specified the horrible working conditions and how they would sell rotten meat to the people. Roosevelt was not happy so he made the Meat Inspection Act pass making everything more clean and strict. Later on, Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois will argue many things in specific how to get african americans from the bottom and in DuBois case he wanted all african americans to have their voice heared and have equal rights, well in Washington's case he wanted african americans to have an education so they can start from the bottom and work their way to the top like everyone else did.
https://quizlet.com › history-unit-2-test-flash-cards

Taft one of our U.S presidents after Theodore Roosevelt's presidency, he later took on Payne-Aldrich Tariff Act which seperated the republican party and causing to later hurt his presidency. The Aldrich Tariff Act was almost a compromise over tariff rates, which the republicans didnt like. Later on, Taft met with the Head of the National Forest Service and accused Richard Ballinger of helping and siding with private trusts who wanted power and taking people land, Pinchot did not like this so he went directly to Taft and explained everything that was happening with Ballinger but Taft did not believe him and ended up firing Pinchot from his position. Joe Cannon was the governments House Speaker and part of government committees. When the republicans tried to pass bills, etc he would ignore, or disregard them and not give them a voice. Now towards the end of Taft's presidency he needed to be reelected to continue his job but Theodore Roosevelt didnt like what he had done to the govenment so he ran against him which made the republican party split. In the end, Taft did not get enough electoral votes or many votes in general to stay in the running which he lost to Roosevelt and Wilson.
https://study.com › academy › lesson › history-of-the-payne-aldrich-tariff-act
https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › Pinchot–Ballinger_controversy
https://www.enotes.com › homework-help › how-was-election-1912-with-re...

Woodrow Wilson was the official winner who won the 1912 U.S. election against William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt. Wilson was different unlike Roosevelt, Roosevelt like good trusts and only removed/ took down bad trusts. Wilson took down good and bad trust he did not want any sort of business to have control over people so the Clayton Anti Trust Act was passed discouraging any monopolies at all. Wilson also passed the Federal Trade Commission Act which outlaws unfair competition and unfair acts or practices that affect others. Later on, the Underwood Tariff will also be passed as well which is known as the Revenue Act of 1913. Lowering tariffs to nothing and for the government to get some revenue they started with the Income Tax making it almost equal to all people. The 16th Amendment came into play, which congress passed making it so the govenment can collect people income tax and no tariffs needed. With all the money going around the counry and people not getting their money back or try to get money from banks they are too far ,Wilson placed a Federal Reserve System which seperated rations of the banks all over the country so people could reach their money and not have to travel so far. Along with the amendments, Wilson supported unconditionally the idea of giving women the right to vote giving a speech to congress stating his reasons, but also women got the right to vote was because of their struggles and hard work in WW1 which congress passed the amendment making it the 19th. Previously, before Wilson won the presidency and became the president he needed votes to stay in the running, so he went to talk to african americans and told them once they voted for him to be president he would give them rights, but right after he won and they started asking fro change and civil rights Wilson turned his back on them and his word. Wilson turned down any bill or law african americans tried to get passed making their work harder than it was.
www.businessdictionary.com › definition › Clayton-Antitrust-Act
www.american-historama.org › 1913-1928-ww1-prohibition-era › underwo...
Pixture by: Dick Lehr
