Your group's task it to write a description of a common US cultural ritual. You can use the example of brushing teeth and putting up Christmas lights as guides. Describe the ritual without naming it. Describe it as an outsider looking in.

When rain condenses into a solid and sticks to the ground, humans leave the comfort of their warm houses, layer up with piles of clothes, and go outside. Some may strap on blades to their feet to glide across a lake, while other strap on their plastic strip and throw themselves down a mountain at 30 mph. The little kids grab the solid rain and form multiple stacks of spheres, all different shapes. They lay on the ground a flail around to create symbols and shapes. What a fun day.

Often you will observe humans partake in an activity in which they heat liquid to a scalding temperature using a stove top. They transfer this liquid into a ceramic vessel, and then add crushed plant material. Some will add small, crystalline particles or additional chilled liquid. They might even add a sticky substance originating from insects. Some will consume this immediately, others leave it alone until the temperature has dropped.

This is a commonly a weekly ritual, but can be daily for some. People waddle down the hallway with their arms full before getting to the square box that will soon be flushed with water and magical powders. After allowing the items to mix for around an hour, they are moved to yet another square box, however, this one spins with hot air for around an hour. Some are filled with joy at the feel, look, and smell of the items after this two hour process is complete. The items are then removed from the second box and undergo a simple origami before being returned to their homes.

Moving the heavy iron, enclosed with black rubber, up and down. Heading into the gladiator pit, with loud music playing in all corners, accompanied by the clashing sounds of metal and the floor. Tight garments similarly fit everyone in it, yet nobody seems to know each other. Loud grunts fill the air as repetitive motions never cease.

People call upon the metal box and wait for it to arrive. Once the box arrives, the people get into the small box and tell it where they want to go using a series of buttons. The box plummets several floors and then rises to the top of a tall building, but the humans seem unconcerned, coming and going as they please, some more rushed than others. They seem to think that checking their watches will make the box move more quickly, but the box still moves at a steady, slow pace
