4" Shutter speed

This picture was taken with two soft boxes aimed at the subject. 4 second shutter speed was used with rear sync flash (meaning the big umbrella flash went off at the end of the 4 seconds). Multiple individual flashes from individual cameras went off in between the time, which lead to multiple freezeframe captures. I used a vintage feel filter and brought down he contrast to soften this image.

I wanted to look up into the sky almost scared or alone for this shot. In editing I cropped the image to leave a lot of space above my head to have and area to be 'looking into'. I also softened the harshness of the light and toned down the contrast.

In this photo, I used Holly as my model. I used a softbox to give contrast to the base/high light. I used a backlight so the wall would appear more white and to minimise the shadows. The model did not want much of her face so I positioned the flower to cover half of her face. I cropped the photo so it didn't show the lower half of her body. I edited the photo to give a subtle shadow to the flowers

The pros of this image are the flow of the dress ribbons throughout the moment. The cons were that it looks a little unclear and you can still see some of the curtain in the background.

We also implemented ethical considerations when dealing with the models. When asking the models to change their position we did so by giving cues and not physically moving them.

What is High Key Lighting?

High key lighting is a lighting technique that overall bright and even illumination of a scene or subject.

adds a sense of depth; making the subject stand out from the background.

A key light is the primary light source of the image, with also means its the most intense light. it needs to be intense so it illuminates the subject or matter.

the closer the light the light the smaller the circle is and falls off quick but if the light is further then it has a bigger circle

High key lighting is a lighting technique characterizes by an overall bright and even illumination of a scene or subject. In high key lighting, the majority of tones in the image are in the lighter range, and shadows are minimized. This results in a low contrast image with fewer shadows and a generally bright and airy appearance.

By increasing the shutter speed, I was able to capture the fluidity of the dancer's movements in motion blur trails to create a ghostly, almost magical feeling. This was then enhanced in Lightroom by using masks to increase the brightness in certain points (see the face and hand of the dancer) and also mask out any undesired textures in the background. In Lightroom, I also changed the hue to make the light gain a blue tint.

Low key lighting is all about contrast, and bringing out dark shadows. For this photo, that is what we tried to do with this photo. Using the model's (Tahlia's) arm as a gobo, we managed to hide her eyes, giving the sense of insecurity and mystery. To further that feeling, i added in a purple tint, but also to tie into the gloves she was wearing.

I don't like this one as much. I caught multiple photos (below) of the subject jumping into puddles to create a splash effect, but chose this one to edit. I wanted to make the water look like blood or wine using the masking brush tool, which was definitely a tedious process. Then, I shifted the hue and contrast to turn the water red.

In this photo i wanted to make the orange stand out in the flower, as well as the rain drops, so i darkened the leaves and some parts of the flower as well as the background. I used this photo for my front page.

We wanted to create the theme as this was a fresh and beachy product, with a spray bottle and hairdryer in the water with the softbox with a gel on it. I centred the product to make it the main focus as there was a lot going on in the background.

The photoshoot went well to get the falling effect but getting the angle for the camera was hard, I had to stand on a chair to get the right angle, another thing I would have improved would have been the colours, the red gel overpowered the purple, so I lost the purple making it more look like she is falling into red light or falling from red light.

I gave this photo a "horror effect" because it looks relatively spooky.
