In this academic journal, the aim is to create a school-wide environment that addresses the needs of all students, staff, administrators, and families who might be at risk for experiencing traumatic stress symptoms. It is based on a three-tier system. Tier one, safe environments and universally healthy students. Tier two, early intervention/identifying students and staff at-risk. Tier three, intensive support. This framework focuses on realizing the widespread impact of trauma and pathways to recovery, recognizing trauma's signs and symptoms, responding by integrating knowledge about trauma into all facets of the system, and resisting re-traumatization.
