I have been married to my husband James for the last 13 years. About a year and a half ago we were blessed with our son Colton. I live in Roseburg OR, where I have lived most of my life; Most of my family and my husband’s family live here as well. As a family, we enjoy all outdoor activities, if its outdoors then we would like to participate. I am a junior in the HDFS program and have yet to pick a minor. Until the birth of my son I had spent the previous 8 years working at the local Relief Nursery Family Development Center as a Teacher/Interventionist. This is a combination position that was in the classroom in the mornings and Home Visits (Social work) in the afternoons. I loved my job and nothing short of my son would have made me leave. I am a huge supporter of Relief Nurseries and the work that they do. I have taken many trainings and seminars on Poverty and find that each time I learn something that I didn’t know before. These concepts have helped me to connect with many different people from many walks of life. In this I hope to gain a broader perspective on poverty and different aspects of poverty then what I have experienced the last 8 years.
