We didn't learn much about the Ceremony though. There were a lot of new Characters introduced. The Characters names were Jonas, lily (sister), Asher (Father). Jonas had a Mother but we never learned her name.
I also learned that every family needs to have a Father, Mother, a Son, and a Daughter. The Characters don't seem to have much emotion. Jonas also got startled from a crashing plane.

had a discussion with his parents about the ceremony of 12. The parents said there's nothing to worry about. There isn't only one ceremony. There is a ceremony for every age up to 12. The ceremonies takes place every December. When children turn 9 they replace their comfort object (Stuffie) with a bicycle.

Out of nowhere the apple started changing colors. Jonas blinked and the apple changed to its original state. He tried to tell Asher but he couldn't describe it. Lily wanted to be a birthmother, but her mom told her that is a lazy job.

A new character was introduced. Her name is Larissa. Jonas also saw his friend Fiona working at the spa as well. Jonas and Larissa talked about their thoughts about being released. They said that being released would be great, because they can live their own lives.

Jonas told his parents. Later the parents told him to take a pill. My prediction is that the pill prevents people from not having the same dreams/feelings for one another.

Lily turned into an eight, and she got a buttoned up hoodie and Jonas was getting ready for his job assignment. All of the nines got there new assigned brothers. During the ceremony, all of the new children had come and they all got named.

The chief elder gave everyone there jobs. Asher, Jonas's friend got the job of an Assistant Director of Recreation. Once it got to Jonas's turn, they skipped him. Jonas couldn't focus his attention, he was also getting dizzy.

While Jonas was standing on the stage, everyone's faces in the crowd changed. Almost similar to the apple from before.

Jonas meets an old man from the elders committee. After some discussion the elder told Jonas about snow. Jonas didn't know what snow was before the elder said something. The elder said that he'd give Jonas a memory of snow. I think this is first of many memories that the elder will share.

Jonas was in a sled on top of a hill. He felt many emotions. What the elder does is gives Jonas his dreams. It causes the elder to forget them. The elder shared another dream, and another. The elder was sharing different climates to Jonas. We also learned that the elders name is the giver.

He learnt that red was a very common color, hence the apple. Then the Giver tells Jonas that he can also see colors. Concept of Sameness (No one else can see colors, flesh is the same, climate is controlled, which means that there is no wind, sun or hills).

This was a part of the pain that the elder said he's have during his training. Jonas's family are about to release Gabriel. While Jonas was held Gabriel's back, he stared losing memory of a dream that the giver gave him on a nice sailboat ride. My prediction is that Gabriel could be a possible receiver of memories.

After his dream the giver said he was sorry for putting Jonas through that pain.

At dinner, Jonas asked if their parents if they loved him, the parents said love is not a proper word. Jonas told his first lie to his parents. The next morning something within him told him to throw his pills away.
