Greta Thunberg is known for protesting outside the Swedish parliament in 2018 while holding a sign that read, "School Strike for Climate." She skipped school on Fridays to protest. "Fridays For Future" was launched in which many youths in Europe pressured leaders and lawmakers to act on climate change as they did walkouts. She was invited to speak at numerous rallies in Stockholm, London, and Brussels. In December 2018, she gave a speech at the United Nations COP24 in Katowice, Poland. She was also invited to speak at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City and met with former President Barack Obama and spoke before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Select Committee in Washington D.C. She then walked with millions of protesters in New York City to demand climate action at the New York City Global Climate Strike.

I chose Greta Thunberg because she was very involved and outspoken about climate change. She was extremely passionate about this one topic and it inspired me to strive to be as passionate about something as she was about climate change and global warming. She stood out to me because she is a public figure who started being involved at such a young age and overcame adversities and can do all of these things with her Asperger syndrome and her obsessive compulsive disorder. She is an inspiring young woman.
