I have learned that ELLs need to be explicitly taught academic language to successfully participate in lessons. I also learned that including meaningful writing activities help students make progress in English language arts. I would like to see more examples of explicit instruction regarding academic language and language demands in upcoming meetings.

We have to consider their needs and have translanguaging opportunities which will help them make connections between both languages. In upcoming meetings, is it possible to show more strategies of how we can support our ELL students and provide resources for doing so?

It makes complete sense that certain dialects can be considered a separate language even if it is a form of English.

I liked the way we practiced the information given to us today because in previous classes when we were just told the information and were not able to practice using it were overwhelming. I think in the future we need more direct directions, because at many times we feel lost and then are notified that we did not do something that we were expected to.
