The nature of which, hugely impacted the direction of my project. The concept of immersing yourself into a virtual journey captivated me to show this movement in my project and with the developing “metaverse”, stood out as something not far on the horizon for technology.

I changed my narrative, exploring a virtual, dystopian world in which inhabitants “plug themselves” in to. This idea appealed to me as it is almost synonymous to our every day lives. We become too engrossed in our societal matrix that we forget we are the microcosm in a world of consciousness.

My idea holds a mirror to this attitude with a virtual reality as a backdrop.

The details made are supposed to mimic that of religious imagery and the face melting away is suggesting lack of nature. The simplicity of the face is emulating German expressionism with the contrasting background. It’s up for debate if you want to stand out or become engulfed into the surrounding. And that’s the main thing I wanted to portray.
