Goldstein was among the nine partners who founded Bear Stearns & Co. and grew it into a leading national investment firm. He had a pivotal role in taking the company public, and helped institute a regional office system that ensured high levels of responsiveness to clients across the country. Jerome R. Goldstein’s later involvement with the firm included a position as managing director, emeritus, through which he provided strategic direction and insight.

Mr. Goldstein has supported numerous health care organizations over the years. He served as trustee of the New York Eye and Ear Hospital, and held board responsibilities with the Mount Sinai Health System. In the latter capacity, he worked to develop the institution’s globally recognized cancer research programs.

Since 1983, Mr. Goldstein has been member of the Lotos Club, which was established in 1870 and represents one of the nation’s most illustrious literary clubs. Having served as treasurer and board member, he made substantial contributions to the Lotos Foundation Charity. Jerome R. Goldstein has also established a permanently funded endowment in support of the Town of Bedford’s Police Department. This has enabled major purchases over the years, including accident scene mapping equipment.
