Erickson's first stage of development is definitely one of the most important as it shapes the way a child will view the world. It is important during this stage that the child learns how to trust his/her/their caregiver. After speaking with my caregivers, my parents told me that When I cried, they would pick me up and lay me on their chest and sing me a song. My mom said that I was a fussy baby because I had colic so, it took a while.

Autonomy Vs. Shame and Doubt is the second stage of Erickson's development. This stage occurs between 18 months to approximately 3 years. Children as this stage are focused on developing personal control over physical skills and a sense of independence. My mom said when I was at this stage in my life, I wanted to be independent and do thing on my own around the house. She also said that I would play with these blocks and try to figure out how to put them together or put them where that go by myself so show my physical skills and somewhat independence.

Initiative Vs. Guilt is the 3rd stage in Erickson's Development. This stage occurs between the ages of 3 and 6. During this stage children assert themselves through play and other social interactions with others. My mother said when I was in this stage all I wanted to do was interact and play barbies or kickball with the other kids in our apartment complex. I would also go out of my way to meet the other kid's friends and parents to go over to their houses and play. I would also make up games to even play with the other kids.

Industry Vs. Inferiority is the 4th stage in Erickson's development. This stage takes place in the early school ages from 5 to 11. In this stage kids go through social interactions and begin to develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and abilities. My mother said when I was in my earlier school ages I loves to read and write but, I hates math due to it being so hard for me. I was always encouraged to interact with the other children, and I did was I was always very shy. I was always proud of my accomplishments and finding out what I am good at and what I could work on.

Identity Vs. Role Confusion is the 5th stage for Erickson's development, were halfway! This stage plays an essential role in developing a sense of your own personal identity which goes along with influenced behavior and development for the rest of the person's life. This stage is from approximately the ages 12 to 18. This one can be scary and have its good and bad times but, overall, everyone will get through it. My mother always said to me that during this time my life was always confusing from hitting puberty and getting my first period, to starting middle school and high school. Getting around the wrong crowd and skipping school but, coming out of those bad ways it was all worth it in the end. My life was such a mess I didn't know where I wanted to go after high school, and I know I had my whole life ahead of me but, it was just hard.

Intimacy Vs. Isolation is stage 6 if Erickson's development. This stage is from ages 19 to 40 years old. This stage is about the early adulthood and when people start exploring personal relationships. A successful resolution of this stage results in love but failure results in loneliness and isolation. People who are successful with this step will form a relationship that is enduring and secure. I had my first child with my high school sweetheart when I was 26. We have been lovers since freshman year of high school. He was such a good man up until, he cheated and fond somebody else so has left me as a single mother but, we worked and fixed things between us so now we are old as hell and have a wonderful relationship with each other it's amazing.

Stage 7: Generativity Vs. Stagnation

Generativity Vs. Stagnation is the 7th stage of Erickson's development. This stage is usually between 40 and 65. In this stage it refers to adults' ability to care for another person. The most important event in this stage is parenting. For a positive outcome you should nurture children and become involved with future generations. This stage does but doesn't have a lot to it that I can say. Even though I am older this stage still applies but is hard to explain for myself. I do have my children but no grandbabies yet but hopefully soon. I made a better life for myself after being in hard situations in my younger adult years. I have 3 children all together and I love them dearly me and their father are still together and everything is going very well with us and our children.

Stage 8: Integrity Vs. Despair

Integrity Vs. Despair is the final stage in Erickson's development. This one is from age 65 up until death. This stage is focusing on reflecting back on life. People look back on their life events and try to determine if they were happy with their life and how they lived or if they regret anything that they did or didn't do. Older people have a lot of wisdom and feelings towards their life. Everyone deserves to live a happy life even after they are gone. My Mamaw always told us no matter what she didn't regret any decision she made in her life because, everyone that she made she did it for her kids and grandkids. She lived a happy life and never looked back on anything she always said she was so happy with how her life turned out and wouldn't want it any other way.
