After explaining what it is and why we're using it, I do an instructional step-by-step guide to help students use the new tool and its features. Then I actually use the tool regularly so students know that it's not a one-off thing.

Student presentations - it is important for me to be able to grade the other students who view their classmates presentations. Has anyone found a good way to do this in Canvas? I figured out a work around last term where I had the students send me their recorded presentations and then I put them into VoiceThread as an assignment in Canvas. This allowed the other students to view, comment and get points. This was a good amount of work and would love a easier solution.

First, I try to repeat the use of a program throughout the semester. Second, I try to find ways that students can use the program together while they are synchronous so they can help each other or problem solve together. Finally, I should probably start incorporating these programs into initial assignments in my "Start Here" module. Currently I have them learn about other tools in Canvas by doing mini-assignments, but I need to expand this into other apps.
